Thread: Dynamic water? No... | Forums

Ok, so in an article i read it was said the water is completely dynamic. Now, i do not know who wrote this nonsense (IGN) but the water is completely fubar in this game. (i still love the way it looks) But it does not respond like it should. (the water in Kamio actually responds to movement) The water in Graw does not even splash around when you run/wade through it. Now, i hope there is a patch to fix this.

Also, on the back of the case (360) it sais the game uses Havok, AND its Hardware accelerated (Ageia PhysX) How is this possible? And why is GRAW not using Ageia to its fullest?

I'd bet the single player water is dynamic. That's probably what they were speaking of.

There is not that much water in SP. (rain does not count) But still, even in MP ther should be a little splashing.

Firstly, "the water is completely fubar in this game. (i still love the way it looks)" makes absolutely no sense. How can something be "F'ed Up Beyond All Recognition" yet still look good?

Secondly, I don't think they meant dynamic water (what's the point in having dynamic water in THIS game?) but the weather effects can produce things such as puddles and splashes. Have you seen how the rain bounces off the mini-gun on the chopper? It looks gorgeous.

Ok let me rephrase what i said. The PHYSICS of the water are fubar. But the look of it is amazing.

As for your question "what's the point in having dynamic water in THIS game?"

    Answer: Realism.

Running through -lagoon- and not seeing any of the water splash about is completely unrealistic, and there needs to be a fix. I would like to see you run through water and not even make a ripple.

Splashing water is eye candy, pure and simple. I'd much rather they use the 360's processing power on graphical details that actually affect gameplay like the new smoke & lighting effects. Wasting cycles on trivialities like moving water or removable magazines or sticking your face on a character takes away from what can be done with the rest of the system. Look at how primitive the lighting, smoke, and MP graphics overall in R6 Vegas are compared to this game and ask yourself if the tradeoff of pink camo and custom faces was really worth it.

You can have your kid stand next to you with a mister bottle, and every time you're next to the water he can squirt a couple pumps in your direction. It would be very immersive and wouldn't affect the framerate at all.
