Thread: Host Quit Session - Check Ports. | Forums

  1. #1
Host Has Quit Session, not when its forced but, when it just happens, seems to be most commonly associated with a final pickup in a 2 or 4 having partial NAT and or closed ports. When people come in pre-made 2s and 4s, matched against another pre-made 2 or 4, host has quit almost never happens. Would assume this is because most people who friend-up play enough that they would only play with other reliable players. Players will naturally eliminate people who drop or cannot connect consistently from their list of friends – no one wants AI Commanders.

The most common scenario is when you have 4, you are sitting in the q waiting (your #1 guy has a star next to his name, the "primary host" because you were first in the queue), then a team of 3 jumps in and waits for a single pick-up. The pick-up player comes in, they have a red mic/port issue and it closes the screen so fast that you cannot see it. The game attempts to start, isn't able to sync because of that lousy 4th and the host then isn't able to recover gracefully from whatever is happening so, the host fails and rejects everyone. Once its in this state, the "ungraceful host has quit state", vs the legitimate host has quit where the primary host hits B, if you attempt to reenter the Q, upon match up all 4 or 8 xboxes will freeze. The only way to prevent this freeze is by restarting the room fresh.

Everyone that plays 4s should try to get 4 before jumping into the Q, even if that means pulling a player from your recently played list. At least you know that they will get into the match vs sitting there for 20mins, get the pickup and have the entire thing fail. We're always sitting with 4 and the other teams typically bring only 3.

Everyone should check their ports. Run the XBL test, make sure they have at least "open" NAT, not "moderate" or "strict". If you do show either of those, you should forcibly open all of the ports outlined in MS's KB article here. Hard code your xbox's IP address and open the ports directly to that IP or set the xbox's IP as the default IP on your routers.

Maybe if everyone outlines the date/times and scenarios we can help them get to the bottom of it. Is it all port related? Is it their server? Is it better or worse when one guy hosts vs another? Maybe because people have port issues, they fail a bunch of times and then cause the servers to choke, which in turn screws everyone over until a reset? Like by failing to get connections going because of port issues, it eats up server sessions/slots/resources and over time all of the sessions are full which blocks everyone from access.

This would make sense, if Microsoft Xbox Live was new, or if Microsoft had no guidelines for developers on how to program for Live. The fact remains, there are few, if any, games that behave as poorly as EndWar does when trying to start a match. I never experienced this sort of problem on the original Xbox.

This is a Ubisoft Shanghai exclusive problem.

I disagree, it may be your experience, it is not mine, so please claiming it is a universal problem with the game. Perhaps you could read the topic post, and collect some information to help?

My NAT is wide open. I already checked it. In fact, I am disabled the router's firewall, even deenergized my computers.

This only happens with THIS game. I am unsure what part of the previous sentence escapes your comprehension. This is also happening to HUNDREDS or other players that I encounter. They stop playing EndWar, then easily pick up other Live FPS games.

My comprehension is fine, however you appear not to have read my post. It only happens for this game, for you. Maybe for many people. Not for everyone. "Universal" is a big word, so I hope that helps you understand now.

Irregardless of you experiencing this problem, you choose to avoid acknowledging that this problem is large. My friend's list of EndWar players is down 85% from mid-November. And I am not the only one. This is happening to people in the UK, in Canada, Australia, Italy and the US. Playing on the EFC side, does broaden the scope of your friend's list.

Wrong ... again I refer you to my previous post. Such a reduction in your friends list is likely a result of your attitude, mine has remained pretty stable for End War friends; welcome to my ignore list.

Don't worry rogue, this guy did the same thing in another thread. If the game was programmed better, it would sync better. Works good for him and his buddies because he always plays 4v4 witha full group I guess. I've been put onto his ignore list also for making valid points... he just started insulting and editing his posts...

I agree with the orginal poster and you rogue. The main topic I feel of the orginal poster is WITHOUT A FULL 4V4 GROUP the game has alot higher risk to sync...
