Thread: SH4 install problem | Forums

I'm stuck--I was running SH4,v1.4, with no problems, then it started to lock up--I uninstalled and tried to re-install and got the error: d:\data2.cab I/O device error-- I'm running XP and this is the first time this error message came up. What's happened?

Sounds like you're using the CD to play the game. Did you install the 1.4 patch after installation..?? How about Directx9..?? Was that installed as well..??

had the patch installed, and did install directx9-still having problems. I tried to install today into a seperate file on my c drive and not the ubisoft directory-still the same problem.

Sounds like corrupt files on the drive. I assume D is your CD drive. You could chkdsk the drive manually.

type "chkdsk X: /f" no quotes and replace X with whatever drive it is, D in your case.

Do you have another drive you could try.

don't have another drive to try, but the install is stopping at data\movies\missions\21_endwar_bik if that tells you anything--I'm really lost on this now, especially when it was running so well just a few days ago

just finished trying sh4 on another system, still not working so I am assuming the CD is bad--and to compensate for it, I ordered SH4 v1.5 gold edition--any thoughts and advice for this version will be appreciated. Thanks to all for your help.
