Thread: Please reconsider the 3D engine! | Forums

  1. #1
The HoMM brand is not about breathtaking graphics - we don't need you to win prizes like Half Life 2 on their innovative Havoc engine. Heroes should have an addictive gameplay, and I don't think there's any need to add a zooming option! I know many fans will hate the idea, although it is bold!
I can promise I'll buy the game on any case, just like I bought the first Heroes when it first came out.

Zooming like in games such as Ground Control, Act of War is somewhat wrong and will spoil the magic of this game. But if you must, perhaps you could limit the zooming option - like have it zoom in three zoom levels.

Keep the addictive gaming alive, please!

Yeah! Keep the spirit of the game and don't spoil the magic.

Heroes of Might and Magic is not RPG like Ground Control etc. Please have that in mind. Although the game idea and concept is already finnish.

We all have to wait until we have seen the demo/beta.

Eh, I think the decision to make the game in 3D is final. You've seen the screenshots.

Oh and by the way, who doesn't want to win prizes?

It is another thing to keep the magical gameplay of HOMM, and another thing to provide this title (at last) with breathtaking graphics, cinematics, artwork, soundrack. While i agree that the gameplay is vital for HOMM-V, i also feel that it is time for our beloved title, to make a real astonishing impression for all gamers, not only the fanatics. I vote for all new ideas, and enhachments!

I agree, keep things clear and "Heroes-ish" with a large view fixed by default

The "zoom in" or any movement of the camera should stay anecdotic IMO.

A reasonable solution would be to keep left-clicking to unlock and play with the camera, and unleash the button to return directly on the normal view.

Im sorry for calling you this, but dont be a tit, they'd have to scrap all their work they've done so far to undo 3D. Theres no reason that it should takeaway from the gameplay, infact I can think of a number of instances where it would significantly improve over 2D (attacking castles for example). The screens look good so far, dont judge the game before you even know anything about it, infact you shouldnt judge before you've played it.
I personally think this thread should be deleted, i dont want Fabrice or any of the guys at Nival to read thread title and get wrong impression.

Don't need to be rude with each other on this forum Romanov77. We are all here with one final purpose. Every opinion matters (if it is expressed with proper arguments). By the way i think that HPLovecrafts verse goes like this "It is not dead which can ETERNAL....."

I agree with Fidanas, sure the gameplay and the feeling of heroes must be present. Still the graphics, the sound and the music must be atleast a little up to date, I mean, the Pure-MM series probably would have gotten so much more attention if the graphics were atleast a little near good. And even if Heroes has a solid place amongst players and magazines a decent graphics engine with nice effects for spells and such can never be wrong. As long as they keep the feeling right, and the addicitve gameplay.

    I second that.

It seems really zoomed in on the screenshots, and I hope that's not supposed to be the standard view.
