Thread: So teh camera issue is.... | Forums

  1. #11
I just got the game, I had assumed given all the complaints the 360 version got that the devs wouldn't have been stupid enough to leave the issue in the PS3 one.

Sure enough, they did leave it in and I can't play the game.

it seems i'm wrong about this due to misunderstanding what you guys were actually trying to do. i assumed the default controls were messed up and inverted with no hope of changing them, but that doesn't seem to be the case. it seems that everyone's complaining over custom settings and preferences... and it turns out that considering how many people have complained i'm totally shocked over how many people actually adjust the camera settings. what's wrong with the default normal? it's the way i played the original, i don't have any desire in changing it. i think saying the game is "totally unplayble" is sort of an over-statement. sure, it would make things easier for those of you who wanted to play it that way, but unless ubi actually makes a patch, just deal with it. the rest of us can play it on normal. why can't you guys?

Because every other game they're used to playing supports inverted controls correctly. Perhaps this example can help you understand: do you remember the last boss fight and how it inverted the controls? There were a lot of complaints about that boss, some people couldn't even complete the game because of it. That's more or less what people are experiencing now when they try to play the game if they want to use inverted controls. Sure it's possible to adapt but it's not reasonable to ask people to get used to broken controls because of a bug in the game. Again, this is a bug. Not a missing feature. And not only that, Ubisoft said they would fix the problem and they didn't.

hmm... it's a shame that people can't work with what they got though. sure, i'm all for fixing bugs, but in the mean time i'd definitely like to hear people praising it at least for the game and not necessarily for the controls that a chosen few wish to implement. i'm surprised so many people are upset about the camera issues. i've never seen this many people get upset over something like that. is it really that popular to invert the y-axis?

In the meantime do remember you should always report in game issues to the support team, this helps them establish how big an issue any given problem may be </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
We did. They told use that they were "working on a fix", and our support tickets were closed as well. Now that the PSN version was released with the exact same bug, it's suddenly becoming apparent that Technical Support may very well have lied to us about that fix. I contacted Technical Support more than 3 weeks ago asking for an explanation and I still haven't gotten a reply. A different support ticket for Child of Eden which I submitted two weeks ago has also still been left unanswered. I don't find that acceptable, not in the least for a company like Ubisoft. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Support didn’t lie to you, they told you that they (support) were working on a fix, which they were. That basically means they’re collecting information on the issue and investigating to see what if anything can be done. However that doesn’t mean a fix will come out, they can’t know that until everyone’s been able to investigate the issue and what if anything can be done to address it.

With regard to your other support tickets, it sounds to me as though your email if filtering them out particularly when you’re apparently not receiving a reply to any ticket submitted in recent times.

Check your spam folders and settings and ensure the Ubisoft tech email is permitted. Update the existing ticket to explain you’ve not yet heard from them and someone should be in touch.

Please use this thread for all your feedback on the above.

Also, all the PSN release threads have been closed and moved too as they are no longer relevant.

Telling people to play non-inverted when they are heavily used to inverted controls, is like telling left-handed people to write with their right hand - something only narrow-minded people living in the past would do.

People playing with inverted controls may be the minority, but they are not only a chosen few. I saw polls on this subject on several websites, and it's more like 25% to 30% of the players who play inverted.

I'm playing video games for more than 20 years now, and the only game which I remember having serious control problems, is BG&E...

Now you're arguing semantics. You're a forum manager, you know how important communication with the customer is. When you tell people you're "working on a fix", they'll expect the problem to be fixed. If what you say is true then the reply from Technical Support was entirely misleading. And also, to us you're all "Ubisoft". You can't expect us to differentiate between technical support, forum managers or developers. To us "we're working on a fix" means "Ubisoft is working on a fix", not "Technical Support is working on collecting information which may or may not lead to an actual fix for the problem".

No, it's really them not replying to me, I check the support site directly for updates. Today I actually got a reply for the BG&E HD ticket I submitted about a month ago. They told to me the problem is "still under investigation". I have no idea what on earth they're still investigating after all these months, seeing how it takes only a few minutes to verify the problem.

Daroth just relax, no point getting worked up over it, it's obvious they are not gonna do anything! If they gave a damn they would have done something by now!

As for the support workers, forum managers etc don't take it out on them they're just doing what they been told to do! So be kind in that respect!

I have the same issue. I was surprised that there was no option for inverted Y-axis only but I tried to take on the game anyway. I just couldn't. It's like you try to force a lefty to write with the right hand. If you force them enough they are able to write but they won't write fast and they won't write readable.

Please fix this Ubi. Changing the controls can't be more than 2-4 hours of work. I know that, I program myself.
