I just went out and picked up a copy of Das Boot a few days after I got hooked on SH3. Been looking forward to subweek since they started flashing the adverts back in May.
The game may have issues and lack in some area's, but for a video game without a monster fan base like some other famous FPS's out there, it pretty **** good. I know I am a sub sim junkie for life now.

I have Das Boot on DVD and use it as a training video. I sit there and watch it while taking notes. Getting ready for the Gibraltar single mission.

Nice movie, I just found it sad what happened to the crew and U-boat at the end. After all that trying to save themselves underwater.

I loved Das Boot.

It has a good anti-war message that isn't unrealistic or silly (with flowers in their hair sorta thing). The truth of war is that honorable men on both sides die. Youth is wasted at the prime of their years.

Now - I'm not an idealist who think military conflict has no role in international affiars or domestic defense. But it is better when a population is anti-war generally than nationalist and blood thristy.
