Thread: Are the devs listening? | Forums

  1. #1
    Folks,

First let me say that I am a huge fan of Splinter Cell. In fact the only reason I got Xbox was to play muliplayer Splinter Cell, so I am coming from a perspective of wanting the franchise succeed.

I have to say, though that I was so dissappointed with DA that I returned it, the first time I've ever returned a game. This was especially painful for me, because I love the franchise so much

Almost every post I read on the multiplayer topic is begging the devs to implement a Chaos Theory type multiplayer. (just add 3x3)

Question: do you really think the devs are listening?

More specifically, do they/will they/can they modify the game to take into account the fan's request, especially one that seems to universal?

Devs: if you are listening, please
1)understand that I, as a SW engineer, appreciate how difficult your task is
    2) This post is coming from a point of a fan of the game, and only want to make you guys successful
    3) let us know that you hear us!

    With Respect!

No. They aren't listening and never have, especially to anything on these boards.

A lot of people here think the mods are somehow devs here, and that they can pass on info easily, but they can't. In fact, the mods are only here to keep the boards civil, and they get new info about as much as the average person does.

Ubi has never listened to their fanbase, and in the long run this will be their undoing.

Wow, the ignorance with Sublime1985B's post. (not meant to be a flame)

The developers do read what we post. They don't always reply. There IS a least one official developer posting here. That person is Ubirazz and we know that he works in the building.

If the developers didn't read what the fans wanted, we would most likely be holding the 07 build right now with a Shanghai made sequel either out or on its way.

Welcome to the forums BoojumBoojum. There's another topic like this already. Next time use the Find option before you make a new topic.

Yes, we do listen. Despite what Sublime seems to believe, I'm the ear of the devteam and I pass on what is said. If you look at the feedback that's been posted on here over the last few years I'm sure you'll see many things which the community want in the game.

When it comes to multiplayer, we have been working on that for a while now and it's coming along nicely but we're not revealing it just yet. Later in the year we will but just not right now.

Razz have you still the code of the old built? I would want to play/test it. [/OffTopic]

I think that they are listening and reading the forums. But they cannot reply to all members.

    Well, no disrespect, but...

If the team is listening then there should be no reason why there won't be SvM. We've wanted the good version of SvM since SCCT (SCDA was fail). I don't recall seeing all the forum members screaming "we want crowd mp!". When the game comes out with SvM then I will believe Ubi listens to it's fans, otherwise they probably listened but they didn't care what the fans wanted, and that's just as bad as not listening at all.

    UbiRazz and OniLinkSword,

Firstly, thank you for the prompt response. Please understand that my question came from a place of respect and honesty.

My question, however, had a little different bent. Specifically, does the input from here affect how the game is developed?

In other words, are there meetings where someone says (for example) "...but 99% of the people on the board love CT multiplayer, so we should do it"?

Yes, that's me and my job. I'm your mouthpiece in the team and I'm the team's mouthpiece on this forum.

However, I take feedback online from mutliple sources and not exclusively this forum. On here you'll find the hardcore fans of Splinter Cell and focusing exclusively to them while forgetting about the rest isn't a good idea.

What other places do you go to get feedback from fans?
