Out on my 3rd patrol. I don't save to protect myself and I don't resume a saved point if I die. I almost finished the war last go round, but got carried away and died..started over and died chasing a stupid merchant why planes attacked this last career, not a good Captain.

Out of AA ammo. A plane was attacking me, even though on fire. I was shooting at it with the deck gun. It looked like a direct hit and said destroyed the sec the shell hit. I swear I hit it. Did I, is this possible or did it just finally die at that moment the shell appeared to hit? Do you ever get the flak shell that stays blacked out for the deck gun, what's it there for..iit's never activated for me.

I am shocked, but happy how the planes really go at ya in TMOH. I didn't know they attacked at night. It seems when a few run out of bombs, more show up. I almost thought I was playing stock, because for over 400 miles, the second I surfaced, planes were on me. I lost radar, so they were medium range. I understand how they are allowed to find you deep, but I swear they seemed to get me no matter how deep and do damage, even after long periods under.

I don't know what finally killed me. I've seen a few SS close to this, but there was a hole that blew my conning tower almost off and the ship almost in half...I mean huge. I had 95% damage and lived for a minute, but had to surface. Whatever hit me, landed on me, cuz that was the first time I saw my sub blow up in flaming explosions like a ship.

The planes were just relentless. I guess they spot you, they keep directing more to you. They just spot me very deep.

I too have never had the anti-aircraft shells activated. Do not know why it is there. But the aircraft situation you are having seems strange and not with what you are doing or not. I cannot imagine an aircraft being able to get you while you are deep. They fire machine guns and drop bombs. They are ill equiped to accurately drop a depth charge as a DD can. Unless they are dropping torpedoes but I do not think they had the wherewithall at the time period. They just have out for you I guess.

I think TMOH the planes are programmed to find you at deep depth at times. For whatever reason, they just beat me to death. I would go deep for hours, come up and 2 would be there.
One difference I've noticed in TMOH, it seems when they do latch on, they stay with it. When two leave, two more show up. There aim is also a little better. Last night was the first time I ever have received a direct hit that actually blew my ship up in a fiery explosion and left a whole that looked like 3 torps hit in the same place. I ain't took time to learn how to post SS's..old fart that I am, but the whole was bigger than the tower itself.

I just really want to know if you hit a plane with the deck gun, will it die...As Arnold said.

Yes you can take aircraft out with the deck gun. It may take more than one hit to do it though. I dont know if you ever get AA rounds for your deck gun, unless they come with the 5"25.

It is really best to avoid aircraft. You pick one up on radar... DIVE.
