Thread: The Atmosphere of Stealth [Favourite atmospheric levels/moments] | Forums

  1. #11
My personal picks are the Jerusalem level in PT and T'bilisi in SC 1. Upon seeing the Jerusalem vista
for the first time it felt like the best virtual tourism ever. The blue lighting at the church is
    breathtaking as well.

SC SAR has so many great levels. T'bilisi is still a fav ; CT even references it in the Penthouse levels
    with similar lights & colours.

However, I have always found CT's specular lighting to make everything a bit too plastic looking.

Love the mission requisite as No kills.

Wow at the second screen man!
I love the shafts of lighting in the previous games. Gorgeous! Also the skyline one....I like they haven't half-assed the skybox and the environment textures. The city looks deep and real. Fantastic screen. It goes extremely well with the gritty espionage of SCPT. BTW I missed the blue lighting in my playthrough.
Could you upload some screens from SC1? I don't have a copy right now..just have CT and SCC. There are a couple of breathtaking moments of awesome where Sam is walking by a chain fence in shadowy glory. Also..I'll try to get a pic of Sam melting into the shadows as he did in the first 2 games.

Screens from SCPT...Got them off the net.
Show the amazing lighting in that game..lots of instances where we see the light being broken by blinds..foliage etc.

    One from SC:SAR

Thanks, but the credits should goto visualwalkthroughs.com ...and I see you found 'em.

Yeah, there are multiple ways to get to Dahlia. One of them is via the church's rooftops and you come across the blue lit windowpanes. So, to me...these SC scenes don't always just
evoke espionage... but rather exotic exploration. It has to do with the background music and ambient sounds as well. Perhaps due to the fact they were limited but well executed sound loops, made them evoke this feeling of being on a virtual vacation even more vivid.

Tbh, the only games I have on my harddrive at the momemt are SC Conviction, Hitman Bloodmoney and Formula 1 2010. SC1 is still a great game, but in reality it's dated because we know
every nook & cranny and how to take advantage of its limits ; and that's not worth diskdrive space to me. I rather boot up the old Xbox 1 console for a quick SC1 nostalgia run.

The painted backdrops in SC1 do deserve a special mention though ; like in the China levels.

    Funny pic!

I provided the link is so that you guys can view them. I have a lot of atmospheric images and so I don't want to post all of them here.
The more I play SCC, the more I think SCC and SCB are more optimized for panther and assault. Playing ghost is not really a fun factor unlike the old SC games. For that matter, I think SCB should at least be played panther or assault (not over use). We all hope SCB is more classic since it is still in production but you can't change the fact that the series is taking this way. Therefore, you play it the way it's meant to be played. Though, I am not ruling out ghosting in SCB, it's possible and can be fun but the game is more optimized for panther/assault.
    Therefore:
SC1-4: Ghost player SCC and SCB: Panther/(Occasional)Assault
    Overall: GHOST PLAYER
