    Too bad the program was canceled a little more than 4 years ago in favor of UAVs.

    ugh! I HATE UNMANNED VEHICLES! Sure the Predator and Gladiator are pretty cool as well as other small robots, but replacing manned vehicles sucks! No pilot or driver makes the craft boring. I only like small robots that are carried by troops to use as tools on the battlefield or small UAVs and UGVs like the ones I mentioned above. Call me a sadist but having a pilot in a combat vehicle just is more interesting BTW, the JSF does use Apaches in endwar, they are mentionedin the novel.
