This threads a place where you can talk about console specs, etc so you don't have to fill up threads with criticism.

    P.S. keep your facts right:

    OFFICIAL XBOX 360 SPECS
    Xbox 360 Technical Specifications

    Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU
Three symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
Two hardware threads per core; six hardware threads total
VMX-128 vector unit per core; three total
128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
    1 MB L2 cache

    CPU Game Math Performance
9.6 billion dot product operations per second

    Custom ATI Graphics Processor
    10 MB of embedded DRAM
48-way parallel floating-point dynamically scheduled shader pipelines
    Unified shader architecture

    Polygon Performance
    500 million triangles per second

    Pixel Fill Rate
16 gigasamples per second fill rate using 4x MSAA

    Shader Performance
48 billion shader operations per second

    Memory
    512 MB of 700 MHz GDDR3 RAM
    Unified memory architecture

    Memory Bandwidth
22.4 GB/s memory interface bus bandwidth
256 GB/s memory bandwidth to EDRAM
    21.6 GB/s front-side bus

    High-Definition Game Support
    All games supported at 16:9, 720p, 1080i and 1080p, with anti-aliasing
Standard-definition and high-definition video output supported

    Audio
    Multi-channel surround sound output
    Supports 48KHz 16-bit audio
    320 independent decompression channels
    32-bit audio processing
    Over 256 audio channels

Now comparing the this to the 8800GTX
(obviously your only comparing this to the 360 GPU and memory)<the 8800GTX is about $700

    Stream Processors
    128
    Core Clock (MHz)
    575
    Shader Clock (MHz)
    1350
    Memory Clock (MHz)
    900
    Memory Amount
    768MB
    Memory Interface
    384-bit
    Memory bandwith (GB/sec)
    86.4
    Texture Fill rate (billion/sec)
    36.8

Now the 8800GTX is more powerful (it better be for $700) but it's built to play anygame for the next 1 year at least at full setings

Crysis' minimum requirements for GeForce Cards is the 7600 which at low settings plays crysis fairly well.

    Here are the 7600s specs

    GeForce 7600 GT
    Graphics Bus Technology PCI Express®
    Memory 256MB
    Memory Interface 128-bit
    Memory Bandwidth (GB/sec) 22.4
    Fill Rate (Billion pixels/sec) 6.7
    Vertices/Second (Millions) 700
    Pixels per clock (peak) 12
    RAMDACs (MHz) 400

Comparing that to the 360 you can see the 360 wins. Taking instances like Halo 2 on Xbox to Halo 2 on PC you can see that hardware doesn't matter too much anyways.

    Now for your rebuttle...

As long as the discussion is kept on a technical level, is civil and there is zero flaming this will not get locked. But there will be no warnings other than this. Flame and you get a vacation.

As far as getting facts straight, the 8800 GTX can be had for less than $450.

Secondly, you can't compare an entire system to just a video card. You have to compare a system to a system. CPU, RAM and GPU together make up a complete system.

Here is a nice balanced overview.

Consoles suck cos you cant customise em with l33t blue/red/green led fans and have half of the inners on show through one side of the case.

Plus they dont come with a free calculator and built in puzzle games like 'BSOD', 'random crash' and 'Guess that Error Code'

Ice a word in your shell like.....

While I think this is a pretty pointless thread given the partisan nature of such debates, there is some good reading to be done on the topic.

    Here are a couple:

PC Gaming is moving slowly to 64bit mem.
    More then 4GB avaible.
Crysis can use 1GB of mem and some other games in full optimal settings on a large screen.

I find the 512MB limit very disapointing. I expected then minimal 1GB UMA. so I was shocked.
well dev come up with game Idea's that fit in this limit. So mostly this goes unoticed. And some exception that cranck the most out of it.
But for PC Dev's can focus on the Game mechanics then a crampy limit.

Reminds me on the 640K limmit excesing EMS mem in the old days. Till Dev's uses the Watcom c++ compiler that offer 32bit mode flat memory adressing.

Well below 2GB there is realy nice stuff possible but beyond 4GB even more.

Never ever ever ever start one of these debates. THEY ALWAYS END IN FLAME. /caps

Don't fuel it, but whilst I'm here; consoles are built for children(bunches of kiddies on XBOXes with little headsets screaming around, cheap price), PCs are built for more hardcore sass people..

    PC all the way.
