Thread: How to start multiplayer? | Forums

  1. #1
I've posted this question to support, but no answer yet.
I've purchased a 2nd Rocksmith usb to guitar cord.

I've plugged it into a 2nd guitar, and tried to activate it on multiplayer, but nothing seems to show up? What else do you have to do to get 2x players at the same time?

I quit the game, and created a 2nd account on the PS3...restarted game, but no luck.

I was messing around in RS, while the 2nd guitar was still plugged in, and one time it mentioned something about a 2nd guitar being plugged in....but when I went again to multi-player, I saw nothing.

    Any suggestions?

When I get to multi-player, all it will let me do, is let me set the 1st guitar to play with my remote..but I can't ever jump the the 2nd guitar menu.

    Thanks in advance.

do you have two PS3 controllers? the multiplayer screen will ask you to choose a second player profile (which you've created) and then that person will have to press start on the second controller.

Hmm...no, I only have the one controller that came with the game. I have purchased the DVD/Bluray controller from Sony...which usually seems to also work with most games...I actually tried that, but it didn't seem to make Rocksmith work at all.

So, you're telling me, that for 2x player Rocksmith...in addition to buying a 2nd usb guitar cord...I have to buy a freakin' 2nd controller???

That seems pretty bogus, since the controller is only used to start/stop, etc...but not actually play the game.

    *sigh*

I hope this isn't the answer to this...I don't feel like buying yet another piece of equipment for this.

The box/instructions should state VERY plainly that a controller is REQUIRED for playing this game...and if a 2nd one is REQUIRED for multi-player mode that is is plainly stated.

    Thanks for the reply....

I am guessing that they probably assumed that most people have more then one controller.

I don't know if this would work, but trying to think outside of the box, you could try Press/hold the PS button when you get to the multiplayer screen, and select Controller Settings. Change your controller to number 2 and see if that will allow you to press start for the second player... then repeat to switch back to 1? It may work... I dont have a second cable to test.

Its the same way for the Xbox. You need two controllers. As far as complaining that it should say it on the box? That's kinda silly. 2 player games require 2 controllers. That's just how it works.

Good thing I have Rock Band, I can use a fake plastic guitar for a second controller.

lol at least your plastic guitar has a purpose now..

I agree at my age none of us want to take our 80" tv's and split them up for two player games typically so i do not own a second ps3 controller. I bought the extra cable so when a friend came over we could jam a little and nothing.

Fix the coding to allow multiplayer with one controller or label the box. I would have never bought the second cable if i knew this.

bad mojo rocksmith... beyond that you rock keep up the hard work!

You can use the stock DVD controller that came with the PS3 as the second controller if you're not using that one. You just have to press the button to initialize it to be controller one or 2. Stock, I hear it is paired to #7.

if you have an 80" tv and two guitars, you can afford a $40 controller..maybe even cheaper if you buy used.
