Thread: Travian or Illyriad - anyone ever play these sort of games? | Forums

    Hi guys,

Have any of you guys ever played Travian? What do you think about the game? I've been told it's pretty popular and quite interesting as well. Seems like it's pretty popular in Europe, but less so in Asia, or at least SouthEast Asia!

Am thinking about playing Travian...That day, I actually read a pretty cool review about a similar sort of game at Massively Joystiq and I decided to give it a whirl. I used to think stat-heavy games were all calculations and low on the fun factor, but Illyriad is on the slower side, and you don't need to constantly watch your back,so it's very relaxed, but in-depth as well. It's just my first week though, but at least I'm still okay with it.

Has anyone tried Travian as well, or maybe both, and how do they compare? Any pointers for games like this? Good or bad experiences you have with these games? Am thinking of joining Travian and see whether it interests me. First time trying these sort of games.

    Travian is boring

    Illyriad is more boring

The main thing with them is that they are too timeconsuming...
It means you have to put down so much time in order to be successful that its just not worth it. And then ofcourse its that extra edge you can buy yourself too.

Do a quick calculation on what it would cost over a period of 12 months for all the small perks and youll quickly realise that you spend more on such a game than a normal videogame with better graphics, more story etc...

I use to play Travian. It was pretty fun for a free browser game. Getting new items took a long time tho.

Both of them are crap! They are just remakes of Evony. They copy other games and charge money for things that shouldn't be. It is all a scam and noone should ever play these stupid games.

Travian was first released in 2004; Evony was released in 2009 how's that a remake?

Travian has lots of smaller severs that run for a year at the end winners are declared for that server. Illyriad is a much bigger single world with no server resets; more of an evolving world.

Both can be played on the move on your iPhone or similar unlike Evony and are less money grabbing.
