Does it work when you shut down Norton?

I agree Avast is just a good antivir (or better) and free! but doesn't have a firewall, for that I suggest Sygate Personal Firewall also free.

I haven't used Norton for a long time, maybe you set settings too high security setting in Norton.

Sygate doesn't have that 'problem', it only has: allow all, block all or normal.

I agree NAV sucks, I would desable the system run time protection, because it would lag out UG2, five minutes later it would be back on by it self. So after about ten tries I just uninstalled it.

Now I use AV Personel, much better. I scaned my pc with NAV and it found 0 viruses, when I scaned my pc with AV Personel I had found 12 trojens.

So which one is better the Shareware of NAV or the freeware of AV Personel.... (P.S. this is a retorical question so don't answear it )

Norton's internet security is really poor. I suggest finding a different firewall product. You will get many recommendations here. I like the free version of zonealarm. It can be found at www.zonelabs.com

I have seen many people (some of them my clients) have lots of problems with the Nortons Internet Security. Often by removing it or disabling and going to another firewall program retored system stability or operation. I have also had 2 clients that have had systems completely hosed when attempting to remove internet security and had to reload windows as a result. Just thought I would pass that along.

Haven't seen an answer yet, so I will post one I figured out:

Problem: Game installs, plays fine, except for multiplayer. When it attempts to load up a server, you get a connection failed message, and a Norton Security Intrusion Alert message.
I am running Norton Internet Security 2005 (yes i prefer something else but it came loaded on my xps gen2 so i'll use it untill subscription expires.) I checked my logs to find out what the security alert actually was and an 'atack' was attempted by 'portscan' This happens everytime I try to get on a remote server.

    Sollution:
You can continue to use Norton products and just disable one function. Tell Intrusion Detection to not monitor attacks by 'portscan' I read up a bit on portscan and it appears to be an amateur way of detecting open ports. if you know what you are doing, you wouldn't need such a program aparantly. I don't know that much about it, so if anyone wants to add anything about this, please do!
To read more about portscan, go to the following Symantec page:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-gate.nsf/4b58a...ment&src=bar_sch_nam

To configure Intrusion Detection follow the instructions on the following Symantec Support page:
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nip.nsf/3897bf24c6...code=nis&svy=&csm=no

    Good luck!
