Thread: HAWX 2 - Digital Download - wont start!! (Update fail & No product id specified) | Forums

  1. #1
Hi I have installed Hawx 2 in its default setting on a windows 7 pc. Everything installs fine (get the green ticks). When I try to run the game the following error message appears:

"Trying to get update information to C:\Users\Study\AppData\Local\Temp\ubiBC5C.tmp.
    Found update (Patch, all, all).
Trying to download update file from http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/hawx 2/hawx_2_emea_1.01.exe. Destination: C:\Users\Study\AppData\Local\Temp\ubiBDA4.tmp.exe.
    Fatal download error (Connect failed).
    Deleting downloaded data."

The game then tries to start but comes up with a no id specified error.

So far, I have uninstalled/re-installed everything a few times - including the ubisoft game launcher. I have also disabled windows firewall.

Nothing works. I hope this isnt simply an issue with the DRM controls that Ubisoft have put on the game??

Hope someone out there can help?

    Phil

If it was a problem with the Online Services Platform [DRM] it would be a different message.

That error seems to point to an update not being able to be downloaded?

I would contact Ubisoft Support - www.ubi.com or use the link in my signature.

I managed to get the update from Softpedia, which installs ok. Now when I run the game it comes up with the message - "No Product ID Specified". I have put this on the Ubisoft official form as well - but thought I would post here as well - to see if i can get this problem fixed quickly.

Ubisoft official helpdesk sorted the problem. The following allowed the launcher to update itself and then the game worked.

To try and resolve your issue please, navigate to the 'hosts' file located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
Delete the file and try again.

    Hope this helps...

    1) Open "My Computer"
    2) In the address line at the top of the screen, delete what is there and type C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
    3) Press enter
    4) A window will open.
    5) Delete the file "hosts". (left click on it and press "delete" on your keyboard.
    6) Close the windows
    7) Run the game again.
