So I just recently put together a nice christmas present for myself.
AMD Dual Core 4200
2 gigs of DDR2 800 Ram
1 Geforce 8800 GTS 640meg card
Its a fresh format, and slaughters everything. WoW at 1600 x 1200 with ALL settings max, 4xAA and 16x anisotropic filtering. 75fps
BF 2142 same settings 75 - 100 fps
Rainbow six 10fps...
Ok fair enough the games newer, so I turned off the AA and the Ani Filtering. Beefed me up to 35 fps...untill I turn or get in a fire fight then we are back in the single digits. Turn it down to 1024 x 768 everything off... and I can run between 25 - 30 consistently.
I have the latest drivers... I have the Dual Core optimizer... Its a fresh format 24 processes 0 spyware, malware (other than that IN the game), etc etc.
So Im at a loss. Is this the first R6 that just wasnt optimized for pc? Is my card to cutting edge? Any tips would be appreciated... otherwise its time to return this.

Unfortunately that is what you get from a really lazy PC port.
-
well if that ends up being the case then Ill be returning my two copies

That CPU you have will fail the recommended cpu check.
Vegas doesn't use both cores. It'll only use one... which isn't really that fast.
I bet that's your bottleneck.

/shrug
Its their loss hehe
When you make a high end game, you need to support the high end systems. To me this is just laziness
-
i agree. There are too many games coming out that only support single core. Waste of technology.
The problem is that most game developers now develop for console first, then port to PC.
Don't blame the developers, blame the guys in suits at the top of the company that only care about money, numbers, and release dates.

nah its all good its all about the money... but eventually certain companys (EA) will get enough of a bad name that it will begin to eat into their pocket books... and then maybe they will listen.

Lots of people are having issues with dual core processors at the moment, especially of the AMD variety.
Try setting the game to run on a single core and see if that helps for the time being. Hopefully a patch will be forthcoming to resolve whatever's causing this issue.

Actually, no - it will use the Cores you have. (Look at your CPU performance while the game is running)
