And I just went from a fully restored villa all the way back to when my Enzio's dad is still alive. WHAT THE HELL?!
And I just went from a fully restored villa all the way back to when my Enzio's dad is still alive. WHAT THE HELL?!
Quick Question Ubisoft: WHY has this problem been going on for TWO YEARS and not been corrected?. I have literally found NO concrete and solid way to fix this. Do you guys even check this forum?
I'm not even going to bother contacting customer support. Every person I've read that's done so has been given no information on how to stop this problem and has been ignored after pursuing an answer or is ignored outright from the get-go.
Closed entire game, reloaded and my progress from the cloud was fixed. Back to where I left off. Scary stuff.
Just booted up the game this morning after playing a bit and making it to the Villa and doing a few combat intro memories there. This morning I booted up the game and was back to when Ezio was still doing errands for his family. After restarting I was then placed outside his house in Florence where Ezio's dad chastises him for screwing around before you even get to start any of the errands. Third time I try to start the game and I am back in the Villa...
I am not sure how this sort of thing is an issue at this point in the game's life. Why is it we are forced to use a obviously flawed system that cripples the ability to play the game? Ultimately I did get this game at a steep discount which is fortunate for me however I will likely avoid Ubisoft altogether in the future.
Ironic little side note: I think the little auto-save thing that pops up in the quick reply window is kinda humorous. If I were to reload this page, wonder where my typing would be restored to?
Sorry for the double post, I also posted this on the main PC section... but I want something to happen with this:
I've also got the same issue. The cloud somehow messed up my progress, and I'm back about 2 hours of gameplay. I had actually taken a local backup after finishing up my session, but I didn't realise that it didn't help me because when I exit the game, Uplay syncs the save progress, i.e. copies the old data over my new local data. I fiddled around with the save files for a while (deleting certain saves, renaming saves with the biggest size so that they're used, etc.), but had to finally accept I won't be getting back my progress. Just as a test, I tried playing a little bit from the old save I had, quit the game, and restarted. Guess what, I was again back to square one, the stuff I'd done just a few minutes ago was already goneThe cloud sync is completely messed up. What I did then was, I restarted Uplay but waited several minutes before pressing play. That way I actually did get to the section where I had advanced a bit from the old save. So it seems to be pretty random as to which save is loaded up. Are you feeling lucky, lol?
By the way, does anyone know how the save files are used? That is, I think the files named 1.* and 2.* are used first. But then there are also files 3.*, 4.*, etc... and every time I start up the game and exit, in the end there's a new set of save files like that (for example 5.*). What are the rest of the saves used for? I couldn't get them to work, for example by renaming 5 to 1.
Well, I'm not even angry anymore - it's good to know that Ubisoft is a developer that cannot be relied upon, so I won't make the mistake of buying their products again. I do however have a question for the admins: now that there are several people reporting these save game issues, and you have some background information as to when and how this issue comes up, ARE YOU GOING TO INVESTIGATE IT? Or forward it to the technical support, whatever, but do something?? Or is everything working as intended according to Ubisoft?
I have almost the same problem. I've lost a save because my computer was turned off.
Last time I ever buy something which includes UPlay, useless piece of annoying crapware. I got it on Steam hoping I'd avoid such, but alas. 3-4 hours of save games just disappeared..
And no fix for this in 2 years? Single player game should at least have some sort of local backup of save games, or how about a warning when unable to save? How about .. something at all.
Destroying a fine game in this way..,
Please make sure you are all contacting Ubisoft Support. You can find the links in my signature.
You sir are the least helpful forum manager I've ever come across in my life. You can't even acknowledge the fact that this has been an ongoing issue for hundreds of people over a span of multiple years? Surely you should know something about this topic by now, and if not, then why aren't you looking into it? Oh, that's right, because you're just collecting your pay by showing that you've made thousands of posts "helping" users. If only you had a boss that actually looked at your posts occasionally they'd see you have this exact post in each forum thread about this in the "technical help and advice forum" even though several users have explained that they've come here BECAUSE Ubisoft Support was so ignorant about this issue. I'd bet that all 7,184 post of his to date have been a copy and paste of this ****ing message.
I've lost hours of play time on multiple occasions, and there's still no hope of a fix available. I paid hard-earned (unlike your income) money for this game only to discover that it is totally unplayable unless I was to repeat everything over and over and over again without even being able to skip the cut scenes (also an idiotic design flaw).
And what a slap in the face that your forum supposedly has an "auto save" feature for what I've typed lol.

Ok i think you need to calm down a little. Widow is only doing her job. If she knows the answer and solution to something then she tells people what it is, but nobody knows everything. It is perfectly reasonable to direct people to support when she doesn't know a solution herself. That is what support is there for after all, and if you have a problem with support then that is a separate issue.
If you have contacted support and haven't really been responded to then you can PM a Forum Manager such as Widow your support ticket number and they can look into it for you and maybe give the support guys a nudge in your direction.
Please do not attack other people though. Whether they are regular members, moderators, Forum Managers, or even com devs. Such behaviour is not going to win you any sympathy and will only serve to get you in trouble. I realise you are frustrated, but attacking somebody for just doing their job the best they can is not a good way to get assistance with anything.
If you have an issue with Widow personally or the way she does things. You can always PM her. If you do i would advise against being as hostile.
