ha! maybe. It is really strong and has influenced major defensive areas to balance the map.

Clever joke with a nice tie in, you must agree? I like it.

How about a slogan like 'Hobo Hodge Podge - too much time in this gutter will surely have you talking trashy.' Ok... So I am not great at slogans, but look on the bright side, I am great at telling horribly painful jokes!

In spirit of my 'heaping pile of trash' map and my inability to tell a funny joke, here is another.

What is the number one reason for pedophilia?
    ..sexy children..

Maybe I should just stick to Map Making although I am sure popular opinion may vary there, too.

    Wow.

    *cough*

This got off topic pretty fast.

Anyways. I like the sniper idea. If you don't want to kill yourself then don't go up there. Simple as that.

I have a couple reasons why I wanted to do this.

    1) Symbolism and Creative License.
This map is going to be the first in a three part map trilogy. (I am serious) Its theme and mood are built around the idea of a dying world who’s resources are being used only to create the means of leaving. Those left behind are fighting because if they stay put, they die.

    2) The Disclaimer
I am not trying to punish the Sniper Class. There are more snipe friendly areas around the map which help other snipers defend against the Crane Tower. This one sniper spot is however a very good one.

    3) Nature of the Beast
Snipers are campers. Setting up shop in a place this good, will have you wanting to stay settled until you die. I would like for the player to be presented with the idea of sacrificing themselves to get ahead. Before setting up your tent and waiting, weigh the value of your gun by knowing your first kill is to break even.

    4) King of the Hill.
Like children playing hide and seek, Snipers are always battling for the same angles. With a mechanic like this it may make some Snipers more hesitant in turn, opening up other possibilities. There will be lots of areas designed with long lines of sight so it can function in a level with other high priority areas. Real snipers do not expose themselves even if you know where they are.

More thoughts anyone? Obviously, I am pushing to keep it in so I need a really good reason to cut it out. I will be looking at this specifically in the BETA playtests.

This map is really something. It’s different; it’s imaginative, and very creative. I think Neo, this could be one of your best maps. (Though you already know my favorite map that you have created.)But like anyone else I can’t speak for everyone. I can only speak from what I have seen and witness from playing your maps and countless other maps that other users have created. I am not trying to be bias because we are friends but rather as someone that has been around the block in the gaming industry. It’s not easy to come up with new and refreshing ideas; but you, Neo, have though outside the box and brought something new to the table. I hope that others would be inspired by your maps and map makers will come forth with their new ideas for maps. And perhaps they will inspire you to create.

Thank you very much. There was a lot going on in your post that is coming across mostly as praise. Again thank you for your kinds words.

I tackled this map in a different way then I have in the past, creating a custom landscape/terrain instead of by creating custom buildings. Of course, the rest of the title is also custom but I really wanted to push the editor to provide me with height. Hills that are leaning over and caves to travel through. The only way I could do this was by evolving the terrain from the Object Set.

My favorite part of the level is how there appears to be layers of different materials which add a timelessness like the lines of a painted desert does with unearthed sedimentary rock. It adds age and purpose from the map's past while still communicating the dark and dingy with splashes of color.

The final version of this map has been released on November 9th, 2009. I like to think of it as the Last Great Map before Modern Warfare 2.

For anyone that downloaded this map previously, you can tell if you have the final version by looking for a rich greenish blue coloring behind the Turrets and a yellow floor in the UFLL Base. There were some minor touch ups otherwise but nothing as eye popping!

Oh, I almost forgot, you can get out of the Sniper Tower Crane now...

    Download and Enjoy...
