Ok the career mode campaign. How exactly does this work? What am I supposed to do? I get orders to go to a certain grid and patrol it for 24 hours.
Ok so I do that then what am I supposed to do?
    Return to port or what?
If I return to port nothing happens?
So how do I get new orders? How do I proceed on with the career?

You get orders to go to patrol zone, go there, do patrol for 24hrs, you see anything, sink it, you don't see anything, then don't sink it. See something and decide to follow that and sink it, fine, aslong as you've done the patrol to.

Once done, you go back to base. Either sail there or do the escape return to base thang. Once there, give a qualification to one of your men. Maybe upgrade your sub. Then click on the big map for the next mission. The missions might be the same, ie goto the same location and patrol for another 24 hrs.

And thats pretty much it. Missions will be different or not, fun or boring.

So far I've only done 3, 2 were patrols in the same place and then 3rd was slightly different place but another patrol. Near coast of England. All 3 times i've only sunk 1 merchant. Does get a big boring but then I'm not hardcore sim fan.

    So, enjoy.

Ok but my question is when I get back to base How do I get to the menu where I give qualification to men and upgrade the sub?

Like how do I end the current patrol.

The menu that your talking about where I upgrade sub etc. How do I get to that? DO I park my sub somewhere or? Where is the option to get to that menu? Or are we supposed to press esc and press quit? Cause thats what i have been doing??

When you get back to base after a successful mission are you supposed to press escape and click, EXIT PATROL? Is that how you are doing it or do I park my sub somewhere to end the mission?

You click exit patrol and return to base or you can sail back to where you came from, but I think then have to do exit patrol return to base (making sure you've finished your missions first).

This shows ya the manual is pants, that should really explain it all.

Once you get to the screen with the papers on the desk, look through them and work out what you have to do, its not hard. Once your done, click the arrow in the bottom of the left hand corner.

And it's boring because it's a horrible recreation and not worthy of the "sim" title.

In the ideal game, you'd be able to radio in that you've completed your patrol and BdU would give you a new grid to patrol, or orders to attack a certain convey last seen at X going Y with Z escort, or any variety of other missions that could be dynamically sent via radio making this game a true Sim.

At the momment it's a glorified shootem up Submarine style. :/

If it gets too boring try patroling at a later date ....Waters got nastier after 1943.

Your not supposed to just patrol for 24 hours lol!!

Its your patrol grid, if it says 24 hours that must be a minimum time.

You should go and patrol around till low on fuel or out of torps (make sure you have enough fuel to get back).

Dont sail round for 24 hours then go home...

The grid is a point the HQ has found which has traffic going through it. They send you there to hopefully catch some of the ships travelling that route. Not just to sail around for a day for a laugh. Does it not say this in the instructions? Or explain it?

My question wasnt where I was supposed to patrol but how to end the patrol.

My question was how do I get the next mission after im out of fuel etc.

It seems that you just push escape and press quit I guess.
