Thread: The Next Generation of Consoles... | Forums

  1. #1
Who's in, who's out, who's already upgraded (360), who's leaving the console genre in pursuit of a PC?

Just curious as to where everyone stands here who are currently running on consoles. I myself am awaiting the shiny new PS3 and the Wii as well, although the jury is still pretty much out on the PS3 for me, and i am just not digging what the 360 has to offer yet. So i am somewhat frustrated as to the future of my gaming.

What about all you guys? And what about portables? What do you guys think about the new DS lite? and the PSP? Integration with the next-gen consoles is pretty cool, I wonder how far they can take that?

I have a DS, and Hunters... too cool.

I am hoping to get a 360 and/or Wii; the PS3 is WAY too expensive for me. I want to play S.S.B. Brawl for the Wii, and Oblivion, Dead Rising, and Crysis for the 360.

But for now, I stick with the original Xbox... and my DS...

w00t! 500th post! Now to <STRIKE>spam</STRIKE> post my way to 1000, then 2000, then the world!!!! Even though that makes no sense!!!! Muahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!

Crysis was already cancelled for the consoles... The systems couldn't handle its power. The graphics on Crysis are finally reaching to the point of realism in this age. It's amazing how real they look, the character faces look completely real, and even footage of fighting in a jungle, all leaves, trees, shadows, everything is detailed to an extreme delight. Simply amazing.

Back to Ice's question, I only got Xbox Live because my good gaming computer fried up. If that didn't happen I would have never gotten Xbox Live or played the thing. It would have been collecting tons of dust still to this day probably. I sometimes played it splitscreen but these days that kind of gameplay is faint and most games don't offer good splitscreen. GRAW does with the bots feature, FC doesn't with only 4 people. FC is too hard of a game to add bots though because of the endless possibilities of some maps.

I've seen ten thousand, in GameSpot.

If Crysis doesn't work for next-gen consoles, then why does Unreal Engine 3 work on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360? I have no info about Wii, I don't think Epic would introduce UE3 to them. But really, compare CryEngine 2 to Unreal Engine 3.

I will never give up my PC for gaming. But this doesn't mean I don't like consoles, I have a 360 and I like it just fine. They simply serve different purposes for me. The PC is for serious gaming, and the 360 is to play fun, mindless things like Geometry Wars and the like.

    That is incorrect.
What has been said is that no console release is planned as Crytek are concentrating on the PC version. As I have said in another thread, if you think it wont be released on next gen consoles then you havent been watching the Crytek Jobs page

Oh and Kimi, didnt you forget a certain 360 title

    CuZ

EDIT: Oops... Best answer the question. Will not get a 360 unless there is a huge drop in price (interesting to see what happens wrt Wii in that respect) so its Uber Pc gaming for me for now

If Wii has motion censore, and their Nintendogs on DS have voice and word detecter, then maybe you could talk and touch (not in a disgusting way, but unless you really want rated AO games on Wii) to AI characters in Wii! But there will be flaws.

PlayStation 3 is all about blueray disks, including making DVDs as blueray also which would make everything high-definition. Problem is, it makes PS3 really expensive. But since PS2 online has millions of players with constant lag using 24.6k with thousands of hackers is bad, could happen to PS3. 360 has a quallity online play, unlike PS3.

Xbox 360, creates a new gameplay than just graphics which is a true next-gen. But most 360 games are also ported to the PS3, which makes a competition.
