Thread: Craptastic server browser... or is it just me. | Forums

  1. #1
Picked up RS V2 so I could play co-op with my buddy who lives two hours away, we both tried hosting a game but neither one of us could see the server come up in the list. We tried for a good long while, picking a specific map, difficulty level, etc but we just didn't see the others' server on the list. Is there some way to find and join friends games through Ubi? Why no IP field in the browser. The browser seems overly simplistic to me.

Did you make sure that the game was allowed through any firewall, both software and hardware?

Still, gaming with Ubi games leaves something to be desired as to hosting or finding games.

There are not many options in the browser and also no map rotation as there was in Vegas 1.

    One obvious option:
Make sure you are logged-in online and not on LAN.

Try by-passing your router to see if that works.
(Not a good idea to run like this for long periods!)

    Ports are:

    TCP
    80, 3074

    UDP
    3074 - 3174

Yup, we were both selecting "online" and we both turned off firewalls. Didn't try the routher bypass yet, I well have to look into that, it's very frustrating when you see only five games come up in RSV 2 browser when other games come up with hundreds. Makes me think there is some sort of needless filtering going on by Ubi.

Are you on DSL or cable?

Most DSL modems have built in routers, so if you have DSL and a router, you are actually going through 2 routers.

I have my DSL modem bridged to bypass the built in router and have ports forwarded on my D-Link Router!
    It works fine that way!!

5 servers is about right for Story .. I just checked and there are 7 right now!

    36 Terrorist Hunt servers.
Have you run a search on them?

Only 21 Vesus servers left with 3 players on one server.
Most versus servers are provided by Trinity Gaming and I have to wonder how much longer they will keep these servers running with few players left!!

Ubisoft has effectively killed Vegas 2 with lack of support and no communication!!

It could have been a good game!!

Check this 77 page (to date) thread for more enlighenment on this game and Ubisoft!

    Bi-Directional Thread!??
