Hi, since game is using Steam maybe they will add planes, missions, campaigns and other extras via DLC in future? Can someone from the Ubisoft or dev team confirm this? Personally I love Steam and making DLC's are better than making full priced expansions. Free patches and addons of course welcomed but in these days every publishers are making paid DLC's.

I would have thought that was one of the reasons for choosing Steam personally, the ease of selling/distributing DLC and expansions.

For a game like this, if selling DLC means the franchise stays alive and the flagship title remains exclusive to the PC, let me have it.

A game like this, I think, is perfect for micro transactions and full blown expansions.

Frankly, I wouldn't want to have each little plane sold to me, no matter the price (which would probably go around 3-4-5 pounds). If 1C/UBI starts to do this, I'll never buy anything Il-2 related, and go the other way.

They already did this with the PE-2 add-on and others, so you might as well stop playing IL-2 now if thats the case. The Ace Expansion and Pacific Fighters (though that one can be played stand alone) were just DLC's, but back in the day when they were sold in stores they were called 'expansion packs'.

I have no problem with steam. It is easy and patches all my games automatically. The only problem I can see with DLC’s is they need to be of significant content. If all the plains are individually bought, online compatibility will be impossible to maintain. It needs to be expanded in the same way as the previous series. Then easy compatibility for multiplayer is maintained.

you haven't got what I've said: I wasn't talking about expansions being renamed DLC's and being paid even 10 bucks. I was talking about releasing individual planes as DLC's at around 3-4-5 bucks each. I don't mind paying, actually I would gladly do, but gaining something worthy in return, which justifies those bucks being asked for.

I've ordered the CoD CE, even if it's 20 pounds more, because it offers me something I think diserves those money. When you are selling a game containing 20 planes, missions, campaigns, engine, texture and so on, with 30 pounds ,and then you caome to me to sell me 1 plane with 5, I'd say **** off, I don't want to buy another horse armor.

That can be done, if they want to, buy including all the planes as AI in addons/DLC's/patches and only selling (each) flayable ones as separate DLC's. And down you go on the road of paying the game 3/4/5 times, only getting some questionable value in return of those money.

I suggest you look at Rise of Flight, the planes are individually bought but everyone can destroy them online, or destroy the AI versions offline. No problems not having the same downloaded files there.

Well if the DLC sucks, it sucks.

Free patches with new planes and maps like what we've seen in 4.08 through 4.10 would be nice but even in the lifespan of Il-2, free new aircraft are pretty rare. We'll definitely see paid add-ons at some point...question is whether Ubi/1C will nickel and dime us for overpriced small patches like in a lot of games or for individual planes like ROF or if they'll give us quite a bit in DLC's at a fair price like with Il-2.
