Thank you for this, seems a lot of work you've done!
I play ToE with your AI (3.1.11 beta~), always heroic (mode and depth, with neutral champions easy, no artifact guards) and some things I found:
- AI seems to be quite passive, even in Aggressive setting with no equal resources. It doesn't attack my main hero if it thinks the battle is Challenging.
- AI overrates mines, even in very late endgame. It tries to recapture mines by every mean, loosing heroes.
- It flees without trying to kill something.
- It never defends its towns
- It never uses Instant travel and Town portal spells.
- In very late endgames, it often crashes after it completes its thinking and during showing its movements. If I load the original AI the turn completes and then I can continue with yours.
By the way, how do you decrypt the GroundTerrain.bin?
Thank you!

Just read your site about Instant travelling/Town portal. I think I found another bug, without 8 skills (i leave it unchecked) I can obtain more skills by visiting Witch Huts
-
Yeah. To make matters worse it doesn't matter if u have 8 skills option on or off. By means of these Witch huts u can get up to 13 skills (all possible ones in the game). The bug has already been reported on Heroes community though.

And two other things I just found, playing Haven.
- I attacked a blinded neutral Seraph with my Vidicators, they attacked twice and Seraphs retaliate the second strike.
- Archangels' resurrection ability seems to be affected by own magic resistance artifacts

So what's the problem? I know blinded creatures are not supposed to retaliate enemy's attacks, but remember it's true for the first strike only. At the moment when the vindicator struck the second time the blindness had already been dispelled. Btw u could watch the same thing in the vanilla.

Guys, don't play an outdated beta. Either play the latest public release for stability and speed, or the most recent beta. BTW the latest beta 3.1.14 adds town portal to the AI repertoire and contains quite a lot of bug fixes and improvements that make the AI more challenging and fun to play against.

I have used 3.1.13, I'll try the new .14, thank you.
@Jantz, never encounter this with original AI and I play A LOT

Beta 3.1.15 contains more improvements and bug fixes. The most important change is that after double-checking the code again, it turned out there were indeed two of Nival's cheats remaining. One gave the AI a discount on purchases (50% on hard, 70% on heroic) and an experience boost (10% on hard, 20% on heroic). These have promptly been removed as of beta 3.1.15.
You may now observe how the AI struggles to overcome the same problems as you, and how it has to make compromises because of scarce resources. All in all the game balance is now more minute, more enjoyable, and the AI has truly to stand on its own legs. It does now a better job on optimizing its build order and is up to the task. If you do an excellent job optimizing your own castle build up, you may gain an advantage but it is not easy. Enjoy!
Beta 3.1.14 is out and has a good deal of AI power enhancements. While this beta does not contain the new advanced strategic AI end stage yet, it contains most of the upgrades we need for the 3.2 release except the end stage and the Hall of Decision. It fixes various freezers, resupply and adventure map object related problems. The AI uses the town portal spell now and visits treasure vaults in heroic difficulty, and on hard if it feels the human player is a threat. The hero flee threshold has been finely tuned. The griffin bugs, landing cell and rush dive delay, and the witch hut bug have been fixed. There are many improvements and upgrades that make the play against the AI more challenging and fun.
Beta 3.1.13. It doesn't contain the new advanced strategic AI end stage yet but contains some important fixes for bugs in 3.1h. The hotseat options default now to the last setting in single player mode, i.e. the 3.1c workaround is no longer necessary.

Why only make it singleplayer? It is not worth the effort to play when heroes v is best played with friends online. What version is compatible with multiplayer and is there an archive to download it from?
