Thread: New skins = the Original Horten IX V-2 and V-3 (Go-229) | Forums

I am very proud to present to you the original "fathers of the flying wing" aircraft.
the Original Horten IX V-2 and V-3 !
    (Il-2 game skin =Go-229)

    --A Short brief history--

The V-1 built was merely a "test" glider with no jets, but flew extremely well.

-> The second built machine, the "V-2" was the first to take flight with two jet engines.Unfortunatly after about an hour flying around, the pilot lost control of the aircraft due to a problem engine and crashed. He was killed and the V-2 burned.

-> The third version "V-3" built, never had a chance to fly. It was never painted either.
It was captured by American troops in 1945 and taken to the USA as a war prize, where it still remains to be put together for the museum and for public viewing.
Today it is rusting away in a hangar. The aircraft is thought to be painted by a GI soldier and is not considered an original Luftwaffe camouflage scheme. Serial Numbers on the fuselage and swastika on the tail were also painted by American soldiers.
    - Colors are actual RLM true colors, also on both skins created.

I have been doing extensive research into these two airplanes, and I have done something that you might like. Never been done before either.
Please take a look at the following images, and I hope you enjoy them.

    Wow that's really nice, Max!

I think you really captured the flavour of the rusting relic in your skin.

I hadn't flown the P-80 much before enjoying your other skin, this one just may have me taking up the GO for a go

    Thanks

    Triad
