Thread: Maybe we were looking in the wrong place... | Forums

Alright so, as most of us are already aware, the Spies vs Mercenaries game mode will not be featured within Conviction itself at launch nor will it be attached as DLC. As unfortunate as news may seem, would you think that it might very well be possible that the team is working on it as its own project to be made exclusively for XBLA/PSN?

I think something like that could be very likely. This would allow the team to focus development on it directly after the release of Conviction in order to make it as good if not better than today's multiplayer standards for the series. Look how good Battlefield 1943 did, and it was a multiplayer only title as well. I'd pick up a standalone version of SvM for $15 without question. I guess the true question remains: Are they willing to make it?

    Thoughts?

If they can make it for 360 they could easily create it for PC. But in regards to your last statement I'll just give you a quote from the sticky topic itself:
"I just wanted to clarify this for everyone: there is no Spies versus Mercenaries mode in Splinter Cell Conviction."

So yeah you're right. Only about it not being in Conviction.

They might make that, but I would think it would be a while down the road.

FYI, SvM was made by Ubi Annecy... not Montreal or Shanghai.

    this.

also, I think that maybe Annecy said they didn't want to do another SvM and that's why it's not in the game.

Not exactly, at least that's not what was said in the "No SvM" message from the producer topic. All I read was that they didn't have SvM because it didn't match the type of gameplay they were going for in the campaign/cooperative modes which doesn't make a lot of sense considering the gameplay was fairly different on both sides anyway.
