Thread: What is the Intro Song to Rocksmith | Forums

  1. #11
I found a good tab of the intro song to Rocksmith. It's a pretty simple and a bad *** song to play.
The tab, I felt, left out a few key notes, buts it's not hard to figure out once you get the feel of the song.
Here's a link to the tab on a fileshare site.

    Hi Everyone,

I wanted to add my vote and bump this back to the top of the list. I registered just to respond here, when I normally don't register for these sort of things. I agree strongly with everyone else. The intro is pretty awesome, and I'd love to learn how to play it.

Unfortunately, the reason I bought an X-Box was just to play Rocksmith, and the reason I play Rocksmith is because I don't want to learn the tabs and go through the traditional stuff (no disrespect intended for CagedMastermind and others who posted youtube and tabbed links - that's great that you're sharing.

My message is for Rocksmith guys. We really want to learn the intro and have it part of the game. Hell, I'll pay for it if it's not free (although I'd b*tch a little because I feel it should be free, maybe lock it for a few levels?). You're missing out at the very least on the download $ you could be getting, and at the best, I'd assume the marketing guys at Rocksmith would be beating you with their whiffle bats and taking your X-Box away until you put it up. Imagine if it was known as the 'Rocksmith intro' and it became an industry standard about reaching a certain level in your guitar abilities. (think the 12 bar blues - everyone knows it's for beginners to start learning as a stepping stone)... Well, the Rocksmith intro is when you're ready to start soloing. - And Rocksmith is what is used to get you to that level. Pretty big industry hook.

I'll get off my soap box, it's just I think you're missing something which is a real want and a big opportunity.

As a side note, not trying to hijack the thread, It seems like you've engineered Rocksmith for people to play songs which are already out there as part of a band or something played on the radio. While that is nice, and if someone can solo a song and it make sense, that's great, that's why I'm here. I'm not looking to play in a band, or with a group of people or even with other instruments. In the end, I want to be able to sit on my couch and play some really good music. Maybe for myself, maybe for a date or some friends. Songs like the intro (call it a lick?? I don't know) are really cool, and it would be right up my alley as to things which I'd like to be learning, not just songs played on the radio.

Now, you might be thinking that I could put something like that together once I learned a bunch of other songs, and you may be right. It's just that, in all honesty, I don't really have a musical bone in my body. I'm not creative and it's really hard for me to learn any of this stuff. So, putting something together, even once I'm into a bunch of really good songs would be a tough challenge which I'm really not looking for.

My point being.... Things like the intro are just as attractive to me. Having a ton of really cool rifs like that (more than just 6 - 12 notes like are in what I've seen as the more traditional rifs), but having real rifs put together into a good compilation like the intro would be huge. You might think about putting a section or a category of song types for these types of songs.

    Long live Rocksmith!

P.S.. To all of the Rocksmith users out there (us people who bought the software). If you agree to this thread, get an account and post that you agree. They won't know how many actually agree unless you get on here and tell them. Take 5 minutes and post a few thoughts, don't think that since someone else said it, then it's already been said. They need numbers to see the real public opinion.

    LLRS..

I went to the link that CagedMastermind recommended and got the tab. I know they are dumb questions, so please don't waste the time or bandwidth telling me that. lol The little smiley face symbol that connects the 5 and 7, is that a hammer on or a pull off? On the fourth line, what is that big smiley face that connects the 7 and 5 with an 8 in the middle with a forward slash on one side and a back slash on the other? And what does (0) mean? Thanks for any help.
Edit: on the 7th line, what do the x's mean?

    Hey FragDaddy!

If the fret numbers are going up ie 5 -> 7, it is a Hammer On, going down (7 -> 5) a pull off.
The slash up (/) is a Slide Up, the slash down (\), slide down
The 0 means to play that string Open (no frets pressed)
The x means to mute or muffle that note (ie. lightly press the string with your fretting hand, not hard enough to make the note ring out, but to give it a percussive sound)

Here is a VERY brief tutorial to some of the notations that Tab includes:

    Hope this helps!

I think it's just an E-riff based song someone banged out for the game.

    Question about the tabbed into

Ok, So, I'm doing this the not-so-fun way, and learning it through the tab (see my privous intro).

    Thanks for the tabbed version!!

Anyway, I'm figuring out some things, but there's still a few things which I can't figure out from reading the tabbed intro.

One is how they get the rythem on the 4th (bar?), starting at the '13' on the first sheet. It starts out with a Quarter note , then 2-1/8 (5->7)notes, then there's a funny thing after that. What is that? What does it mean? Also, the next 3 notes (assuming they are 1/8 notes because of the tiny 2nd flag) has a dot under them. What does that mean?

I've gotten further than I expected, so that's a plus. I'm going to go back to my super ducks! Hehe.

I've never seen a dot UNDER a note, but maybe that's a limitation on whatever software is being used to write the tablature you're using. Dots are usually placed to the right of the note.

In traditional music notation, a dotted note has a duration of 150% (1-1/2 times as long) as the base (un-dotted) note. So, a dotted eighth note = the duration of an eighth note + a sixteenth note. A dotted quarter = a quarter + an eighth. And so on. Hope that helps.
