Have we hooked you as well, Tully? Wahoo!
The Spad 13 isn't too bad landing wise, I find. Sometimes, if it starts to groundloop, a quick burst of power as you apply opposite rudder can catch it, though you need to be careful not to overdo it. Landing accidents seem to be fairly endemic in RoF though, and you'll just get used to the invitable incident. They are rarely fatal, except in the Sopwith Dolphin which tends to flip over and decapitate the pilot (historical realism at its best - the trick is to duck down in the cockpit if it starts to go over, and stay 'ducked' until you exit the fllight)
As for setting up joysticks etc, at least it isn't DCS or something - you need relatively few assignments for the basics, and can set others as you find you need them - probably easier to learn that way too.
