Getting back into it and still tweaking those last few tweaks. Have discovered that vegetation dither doesn't do much on my rig except reduce grass detail and eat up another couple of FPS. Trees seem a little more three-dimensional when flying around them, too.

Well, I just went and filled my stable up with fighters due to the sale that is currently going on. Next sale, I'll be bomber equipped.
Well, I took out a Brisfit to raid an enemy balloon base, came back slightly dinged up but got a couple of AA platforms with bombs. I'm starting to like this aircraft.

Good chap, Doc. Just been reading up on Bristols and high alt deep penetration missions. Must confess I haven't put much stick time in on the old bird. Must put that right soon.

I see the whiners are getting to Jason. Hope he doesn't do an Oleg.
I will be making less posts in the forum in 2012. Work will continue. We'll announce plans when the time is appropriate.

Up for a jolly in a Sopwith Dolphin. Nice ride with outstanding forward view, but prone to nasty spins if you're over-zealous on the stick...
Ah, theres a chap I didn't want to meet on a maiden flight...
So...his agility and experience against my raw power and survival instinct...
This was going to call for some quick thinking...

Egads, I love ROF. Recently did a forklift upgrade originally intended for CLOD but, now, I believe may have (subconsciously) been for Rise of Flight as that's all I've been playing. Part of my upgrade included replacing my trusty Thrustmaster F-22/TQS with CHproducts Fighterstick and Pro Throttle as Win 7 isn't compatible with serial gameport devices (for rudder I threw the guts of a Saitek ST590 into my serial CH pedals). Below is the first few minutes of my first foray in my trusty camel with my new gear. We're bounced shortly after take off....
THRILL as I fumble with the controls
MARVEL at my lack of situational awareness
GASP as I finally figure out the mixture controls
WINCE at my atrocious gunnery skills

Spiffing show, old chap!Loved the collision. I'm still very scared of the Camel, wondering if some serious stick-time might cure that.
Well here's the latest installment of my latest escapade. To recap, I was minding my own business at several thousand feet, when I met a famous foe...
I realised very early on in our tussle that patience would be a virtue. If I could stay away from a turn fight, keep ol' Manny away from my tail and keep the old girl from spinning out on me, I'd get my chance eventually. So began a series of manouvres designed to do just that - no fancy aerobatics, just a succesion of climbs and dives, ever wary that pulling too sharp a turn would end up with me in a flat spin with Germany's greatest marksman lining up more than a shot or two on my arse, should I pull out of it. For his part, ol' Manny pulled off a series of twists and turns that I could only dream about, but he only got close enough for one quick squirt which mercifully whistled past my starboard wings. He seemed to be treating me with a respect that I frankly didn't deserve as he kept his distance - maybe he was waiting for that one chance, like me. So like two prize-fighters, we circled and jabbed, watching and waiting. My respect for the Dolphin's willingness to spin meant that I was, in effect, fighting two enemies, and bloody exhausting it was too. I must confess that it was a lucky burst that did for the red bounder, but they all count - and I felt I'd earned a bit of luck by now...
