Never mind, Mr S. Maybe you could riddle my kite full of holes in the new year.

My experiences flying 'trossies have boosted my confidence to the extent that when I went crawling back to the R.F.C and ended up escorting a Harry Tate, I bagged two of the sausage-eating blighters in my SE5, - and landed safely to tell the tale.

The Bebe's still a death-trap, though. Still, it has its' moments...

    "Bonjour!"

Oops! Sorry Carts. Hope you're back in action soon.

IIRC, wasn't there a Belgian? named Willy Coppens who ended up getting stuck on top of a German balloon as he was trying to bring it down? For some reason this particular story stuck in my head when I read this book about WW1 aces that I checked out of the elementary school library when I was 9-10 years old, so I could be wrong about who exactly the pilot was who landed on the balloon.

Hey LF, You're the devil himself! I'm probably going to end up buying some extra aircraft because of your posting all these great pics, especially the Pfalz DIII.

Probably all it would take to push me over the edge into buying them all now would be to hear the opening main theme to the 'Blue Max'.

    Wakey wakey...

Once I figure out how to capture screenies, I'll be posting them . The default button seems to do nothing at this point.

    Looking forward to them, Doc.

I use FRAPS. But (a)it's time-consuming converting bitmaps to Jpegs - well RoF is just so screeshotable isn't it? All those bitmaps eat up disc space too - they soon build up (I'm too tight to buy and unlock jpegs as standard. And (b)it took me ages to figure out that my standard FRAPS capture screenie key was resetting my default snap view to very strange perspectives (F10). I use numpad/enter now.

"A busy day at the office."

So there I was again. Arse-end Charlie escorting a Harry Tate on some recce mission that no doubt the outcome of the whole war hinged on. Our formation flying left a lot to be desired, but we could just about manage to fly in the same direction at roughly the same height in roughly the same patch of sky...

The twin-seater seemed pleased to see us, waggling his wings while the observer/gunner waved like a maniac and pointed forward as we put in a tremendous effort to look professional and re-assuring by tightening formation...

Not that the Huns cared how we came at them. Turned out the observer wasn't giving us directions after all. I reckoned at least five of them before events took a turn that would distract me from my calculations...

All thoughts of where I was in relation to number four in our flight went out of the window as we accepted Jerry's invitation to the dance. Look out for your mates, by all means, but when the bullets start flying it's every man for himself up there...

A few seconds of whirling madness as we all tried to pick one out whilst not being picked out ourselves - and trying our darnedest not to collide with friend or foe. The lonely sky can get quite crowded at times...

A Hun flew directly across my line of sight and I loosed of an optomistic burst at him to no obvious effect...

It was beginning to thin out up there. The madcap furball had drited north and expanded in area. There was a lot more room for manouvre. I decided to watch from the sidelines in the hope of picking an advantageous moment. A 'trossy made a run towards the Harry Tate and I guided him away as the twin-seater took evasive action...

Giving the old girl plenty of right rudder, it was fairly easy to follow him down. I saw his prop stop and must admit I had thoughts of finishing the poor blighter off for good - but he was out of the fight, and his chums were still about. I decided to save my ammo. Bloody good job I did as things turned out. My fight was only just beginning...

    To be concluded...

    Awesome shots guys!!

I've vflowen IL-2 from the start and finished with IL-2 46. It was and STILL is an awesome sim! But i finally got bored with it.
I latched onto Rise of Flight about a year ago... have not looked back since... it IS just awesome!!!!

Some of the flyable aircraft are Itchy, Twitchy Mofo's!! all have their nasty traits... but when you get up close and personal... It just rocks!!
    It really is that awesome!
If you like straight out dogfighting...you WILL enjoy it!
