Thread: Uboat destroyed by collision? | Forums

  1. #1
I finish a patrol mission, sink about 4 merchants and 1 tug boat and proceed to go back to home base. As I get to the inlet where the water is shallow (about 11-12 meters), I'm proceeding to pass time at 32x or even higher like 128x and I am always dying by collision even though there are no ships around me.

Is it because I'm going at flank speeds? I dont understand it. Has this happened to anyone else?

    Thanks.

Are you running the harbour traffic mod? If so, you are probably hitting a mine.

I'm running IUB v1.02, as well as a Navimap mod, sky mod, and realdamage mod (the one where enemy ship crew get thrown from ships during an explosion ..it's for eye candy)

    I'm also running SH3 Commander.

You are most likely being destroyed by your own minefields. Check the documentation folder in IUB for maps of the minefields and sub nets. I'll bet you are wandering into your own minefields. Unfortunately, when you die from a mine you are not informed of the cause.

I had something similar happen to me... I just got a new Type IX/D2 in Bordeaux, and as soon as I started the mission in the sub pen, and applied any speed at all, I got collision warnings, and my sub eventually sinks. Probably just a bug, in my case.

That is a known bug, for which there is a solution, requiring you to manually edit the sub's starting point. I think HW3 posted the solution for this not too long ago. Try going back several pages in this forum and you will see the thread which details the solution.
