The part of the mission were you have to protect the factory fire from spreading by shooting down all the incoming bombers is impossible to complete, even on the "rookie" skill" level. If even one bomber gets through the factory is still destroyed and it's impossible to shoot them all down fast enough.
You people who design these games have to realize these things aren't Olympic sports, the "easy" or "rookie" skill level should be exactly that, a setting where someone can enjoy the game without it becoming an all consuming ordeal. This is a really great game but it stops being fun after the 800th try at the same mission over and over and over and over and over and over and over again!

I agree. Firestorm was the mission where I got stuck and started to use trainer...

I'd like to hear from someone who's actually managed to do this to see if it's even possible so I don't waste any more time with this game.
Ubisoft obviously doesn't test their games enough to realize this is way too hard.

It can be done....took me a few trys on pilot but i finally got it..You have to use your hyper-thrust or whatever you want to call it then when you re close to the bombers slow your speed down a bit...its more of a throttle thing than anything else.

I DID IT!
The trick is to start attacking the flight of bombers from the side, not trying to get completely behind them, otherwise you can't get them all in time. Use war-speed to get in position fast, then turn. Come in directly from the side not from above, they'll be all in a row that way.
Make the turn at just the right distance and cut the throttle so you won't overshoot the closest one, then speed up to catch the ones farther away, and get close so you can shoot 'em down faster.

I still think the "rookie" skill level in this game is too hard. The definition of "rookie" is someone who has never played a flying game before. This thing takes alot of practice.

I beat it on Ace level. Not too bad.

Bombers will chew you up if you get behind them. You want to climb high and stay moving fast and make sweeps downwards on them. You can easily take out 1-2 bombers per pass.

You can also approach them from the sides as well and blast into em.

exactly, that was the real way to take out bombers in WWII
I wanted to do that but couldn't get 'em fast enough, once I dove through the formation and came back they'd already dropped their bombs.
now I've got this flying stuff figured out they're like shooting fish in a barrel

I am too stuck on firestorm, I go in at warp speed, slow down to get them all, rinse and repeat, about a dozen times, but no matter what I get the fail, the fire spreads (again), over and over, it is such a long mission with no check points, so it blows to keep destroying all the groups over and over just to get the fail. Am I missing somthing here. I am pretty good by now at killing the bombers in time but I guess not......its a fun game but when it is so frustrating that you dont even want to look at the game cause of all the temper it brings out of me....oh yeah...I'm on rookie mode
