Game restarts comp little way into game what do I do?

ok used upates on raven and athena hopefully that takes care of it !

Ok now after hours of downloads i am PO'd.This is BS the game restarts my comp in game off line what is the prob?
I run win 2000 pro
amd athelon 1.4 gig
plenty of ddr 2700 ram
ATI 9600 128 mb card
SB 16 pci
what is the problem with this product? I run couterstrike source no probs.....?

Ok this could be your problem:
1.) If your system restarts rendomly in or out of the game then you most likely have a bad ram stick somewere in there.

2.)You said that the it restarts about five minutes into the game, so considering the fact that you have a pretty powerfull video card, your powersupply is not big enough.

It could be something like this, when you start the game and play for 5 minutes you have no problems, but then your graphic card heats up and the fan turns on, on it (my 9800 XT vid card fan is pretty loud, so I know when it goes on), and it requires more energy then your power source could handle, which results in a restart.

I have a 500 watt power supply for my
3.0 ghz P4
1 gig pc4000 ddr ram
120 gig hard drive
128 mb ATI 9800 XT

Now I face the same problems for crapy game of Driver 3, but since its sooo crapy I figured its not worth updating my hardware.

I've noticed this game is a pretty good identifier of failed overclocks, if you are OCing put everything to stock and try again.

I am overclocked from 1 gig to 1.4 so ill try reset in BIOS.Am running 250 watt power and my vid card has heat sinks instead of fan.Its ATI diamond stealth 9600 se 128 mb ddr.Thx for replys

Yep if I overclock too much it will restart on me.

It was none of these things.Nothing has fixed the problem. Im fairly certain its in the software not my computer.
I entered Azure wall(1st athena mission),Left my guy near entrance and then took a nap.3-4 hrs later still up and running ,played the game for about 10 mins,managed to get 2 hosties out then restarted.Its when an action occures in game then the program crashes the computer. It is not on my end!
