I have been a Ubisoft gamer for many years, and always loved a lot of your games. But today I read something that I find very disturbing and distasteful.
Despite your sticky thread saying UPlay is a "free" service, I read on GameSpot today that Ubisoft is going to start forcing gamers to pay $10 for a UPlay Passport to unlock game content and online features if the game was purchased used.
I wanted to write to say that I find this kind of action disgusting and greedy. While I buy 95% of my games new, I will not support or buy any game new or used with this type of greedy scheme.
Put simply, I don't pay a royalty fee to a car company when I buy a used car. I don't pay a royalty to a house builder when I buy a used house. I don't pay a royalty fee on anything I buy used! So I'm certainly not going to pay a royalty to a game company that has NOTHING to do with me buying a game second hand.
The fact that you guys use technology to try and milk people for more money disgusts me.
A few people tried to say "you are using their servers and bandwidth". Well, it's not a new copy of the game, it's just being played by a different player (still 1 player, not 2!), so it's not adding more bandwidth, or requiring more servers. The game developer already made their money off the game, and should have accounted for their costs for the life of the game.
Besides, as someone who owns 10+ servers and pays for a lot of bandwidth every month, I know the cost is negligible compared to the cost of salaries, marketing, legal, rent, etc. This is simply a scheme to milk money from 2nd hand game sales.
I really hope you guys will re-consider these unethical policies. You have no business trying to be a 3rd party to a private sale, and until you drop that policy, you've lost a customer, and everyone he can warn. Yeah for Social Media!!!

I have lost a lot of respect for you guys. This just makes me not want to buy your games at all. Heck i wish i could do a world wide boycott on your games now.
