Thread: can't jack up all graphic settings? | Forums

  1. #1
    i have a geforce 8800 320mb. the graphics options won't let me jack everything up. if i move the texture detail all the way to the right, it prevents me from moving the shadow setting past halfway.

    i think i can make a decision on the right balance b/w performance and graphics, why does the game try and impose on this?

    I have dual Geforce 8800 GTX with 728 MB each and I can't play the game with full graphics, I get a lot of video lag at 1900 x 1200. What is the best way to view the game?

    This aspect annoys me a bit too. I have dual 8800GTS OC 320MB graphics cards in SLI and I really should be able to run it at full max settings.

    But even if I can't, please allow ME to decide what I find to be an acceptable level of performance.

    The devs decided to limit the option to select the highest settings to those with cards having more than 512mb, why? I can only think they didn't want lots of people with lower spec systems selecting all the eye candy and then moaning that the game ran too slow.

    LOL, so instead they get people moaning that they can't select all the high settings instead. Bad call! Either way they get moaning, but this way we don't get the opportunity to see if performance is acceptable to us.

    Also why doesn't crossfire or SLI have both video cards memory count in the total? I mean I've got 640MB of video ram between my two 8800GTS cards so that's over 512MB.

    Maybe there is an ini file that can be changed so that the game thinks that we have more memory then the game thinks we do now?

    What did you alter? Here is my options.ini:
    [Display]
    AnimationQuality=2
    Anisotropy=3
    AspectRatio=Default
    Brightness=50
    Clutter=4
    Contrast=18
    EdgeSmoothing=2
    MultiSampling=4
    Occlusion=2
    OrnamentalItems=1
    Reflections=1
    RefreshRate=60
    ResolutionDepth=32
    ResolutionHeight=1050
    ResolutionWidth=1680
    Shader=1
    ShadowMapSize=0
    Terrain=0
    TextureResolution=3
    Windowed=0

    Does anybody know what are the highest values for each one? (Blue Byte, now would be an opportune moment to step in and say something ) And what happens when you start the game, doesn't it revert back to a default if the options.ini has been altered?

    Thanks,

    P.S. We posted at the same exact time.

    CB...I wonder if, in that ini file, there's a place to unlock the camera as well?
