Thread: Steam Install/H.A.W.X-2/DX11 intro videos and sound slow and choppy - SOLVED. | Forums

    SOLVED:
HAWX2_DX11.exe needed to run as Administrator. Still strange, why only issues with intros when not running as Administrator?

"When I start H.A.W.X-2 /DX11 the intro screens/videos and sound are very slow and choppy. Tho, once I get into the game's configuration and play mode all's good and the game plays nice in DX11. But, no such issue, with the intros when the game starts in DX9. Is there a fix for the intros in DX11, or can I somehow delete the intros?"

And yes, my GTX590 does DX11 fine with all other DX11 games/modes/apps. At least H.A.W.X-2 benchmarks great in DX11 with tessellation in 1920x1200/ALL HIGH/4xAA - 213FPS!

    Update:
Funny, I also have the DLC/Open Skies and it starts the intro videos and sounds just fine in DX11. I really dislike Steam's installs!

Actually you have a good Graphics card, so you should not face any kind of Lag while playing the Game Intro movies as well.

Have you tried playing the Game under 'Windows XP SP2 Compatibility mode', when you run the Game in DX11 mode ? I know this is not necessary, but just to check the performance, try playing in XP mode. Are you using Windows 7 OS ?

Btw, I think you can rename or delete the Game Intro Movies/Videos. Look for *.bik files where the Game has been installed. For the first game i.e. HAWX these files were located under the 'Data\Movies' folder e.g.

    attractmode.bik
    brf_rio_bik
    Clancyman_720p.bik
    d_geoeye.bik
    disclaimers.bik
    logo_wide.bik
    rating.bik
    start.bik
    UBIPresents.bik

Look for similar files for HAWX2, and try to Rename them. But first make a Backup of any files you may Edit.

Even your Benchmark score is good, but only the Game Intro videos Lag ? It looks like you might be missing some Codec for your OS, which is necessary to play these Videos, when you start the game in DX11 mode ?

Which OS do you have ? Have you tried installing all the essential Audio/Video codecs ? Or maybe those Intro Movies might not be fully compatible when played in DX11 ? Or some particular in-game setting might be causing the Lag.

Yes, I do run W7U_x64-MSOS. And, thanks for the hints. I'll try to remove the intros and see if it works. Those pre-gameplay intro movies, in most games, are annoying
