I am in desperate need of a spot light for my sub. It is soooo dark while entering/exiting ports at night and I hate to waste all my starshells or wait till daybreak to enter/exit. Does anyone know if the DEVS are planning on attaching a spot light to the brige that we can swith on off and use similar to the UZO or binocs? Perhaps someone who has been tinkering with the config files knows how to mod us one? BTW does anyone know how to edit the config files so that I can push my slow IXB a a few knots faster while submerged? I already know how to adjust the surface speed using the 'basic.cfg' file and editing the engine upgrade boost. I don't however know how to edit the engine\electrical speeds of the standard engines. I have tried to tweak them in the 'data\submarine\NSS_Uboat9b' folder to no avail. The edits I made don't seem to reflect in the game at all. Hmmmm! And yes, I made backups of all my folders.

A spotlight would be a good idea, I hope that this is taken into consideration with any new patch or add-on that may "see its way clear"--pun intended--to be added SHIII.

As for tinkering with files..no comment.
I play "as-is" where they are concerned.

Surely in real life a boat captain would have a sportlight or a powerful flashlight to use while entering/leaving port. It's not like you have to really worry too much about being spotted or detected while entering/leaving your home port - the enemy already knows that your home port is an enemy base. The lights on the buildings do help some, but some nights in this game are very dark, especially when their is a haze or fog. I just hate damaging my boat in front of all those pretty nurses on the pier as soon as I set off on my voyage. I feel like Forest Gump when that happens 'That's my boat' as it crashes into a pier. LOL! A spot light for our subs is neaded!

I thought of this as well. But I was thinking of a signal light that we could use in multiplayer.

Surely U-Boats did have lights of some sort, even for submerged messaging to other ships ?

what we need are channel markers with flahsing lites or the sort to guide us into port and out of port

With all the color codings and everything?

True, One can sail blindly in and out of a port just by being guided by the lights (and with an adequate map to explain what those lights are) But it would require some basic knowledge in navigation to effectivly use such a system, or at least some time to learn every lighthouse in the harbor and what they represent.

A spotlight like the ships have would be a much easier and usefull alternative.

You did something because it had always been done, and the explanation was "but we've always done it this way." A million dead people can't have been wrong, can they?
