Thread: Arranging forces before battles... | Forums

This seems to be a bit pointless...I just fought against a weaker group of necro creatures and I arranged my forces so that each would have a bonus - cav versus archers, melee versus cav and archers versus melee - but when I saw the battle report I had suffered (shock horror) a crushing defeat, and I noticed that all the enemy creatures had been arramged to receive a bonus. Considering there was no hero on their side, how the heck did this happen? Did they have a secret tactical genius amongst their ranks?? er...the question is, is there any point in arranging my troops beforehand if they are going to be slaughtered anyway?

never happened to me. maybe you have mistaken your own setup? and/or, consider that surviving people in one stack are the first guys that will attack the next stack. in other words, there´s a pretty good chance that they will have a dissadvantage.

Maybe you can show us a picture of the battle report or send it to me by mail in the game itself? I think I understand the battle system now so maybe I can help you.

I'm thinking that you might have had it backwards when you set yours up. A screen shot would tell us what is going on then you can tell us if that's what you meant to do. I have yet to see an NPCs guys suddenly change positions.

I think The-Enchanter set his troops up so that his enemies would have the bonus. The troops on the left side are yours. The troops on the right are enemies.

    Hi guys,
I'm new to this.. but is it different when a real player attacks another? Because otherwise which player gets to choose to get the advantage?

or (as i'm hoping) when two players fight it will be like the old HOMM and they will fight on the hex grid.

on a similar note, is the game Heroes of War and Money legit or are they in trouble with HOMM legal team?

I would suggest he may have had one of his first units overrun the enemy. When this happens, it is that unit which takes on the next stack, not the one picked... so the net effect could be all of the arranged units get misalligned with the enemy now receiving bonuses against them instead of the other way round.
I'd lost a couple of battles I should easily have won due to this.
Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life!

And the world will look up and shout 'Save Us!', I'll whisper 'No!'.
