Thread: I feel like a beta tester/trained monkey | Forums

Wouldnt you think that now with "version 4" of the game they would have worked all this sh*t out already?? Im getting the feeling that I paid $60.00 to be thier beta tester and every one will have to complain about problems for them to create a patch (like allways) I feel that them publishing the 4th installment of the same game they would have taken the time to work out the bugs instead of shooting for the quick buck/profit... With comments from those that have gotten their game leaning more on the negative side, im wondering if I should have waited for the "final" version instead of being disappointed with a shoddy game and wait in line as if in a bank for updates and patches as they come down the system? Would you buy a car from Ford, and only be able to drive it X number of days a week until they sent you the parts that they didnt install at the factory??Would you pay up front for a bicycle that didnt have pedals and you had to wait a month for them to be shipped seperately?? I think not. so why should this product be any different?? Just my 2 cents

Game looks stunning and I mean STUNNING! that's for the eye candy. Now the game is playable but! for a hardened SH player there are many short comings. Sound is weird, some features don't work (bugs) AI sometimes behaves totally erratic (driving up on shore etc). So sure, feels rushed...but I guess the Dev's are very aware of this and are already gearing up for a patch...knock on wood. Give it a month or so it is a UBI game after all. And don't forget that Consoles rules the world nowadays

In the words of one of my best friend, "why would you play a computer game with bugs and errors when consols just work?"

and you know, sometimes he's right and sometimes he's not. But the thing is, I just like computer game better, I don't know why, I just do.

I have a couple of problems with "The Consoles":

First, I like sims with the complexity (and "modability") of SH3: .....and you don't get that sort of thing on the game consoles.

Secondly, I find it irritating that the Console makers simply assume that I will throw my system away and buy a new one every two years.

Yes, yes, .....I realize that upgrading a PC isn't cheap either; ....but at least when I do that, my other applications benefit too! (A new game console doesn't do a thing for my CAD package. LOL)

Of course this may not be the best way (for you), but sometimes its what needs to be done.

Its like this building here downtown, they built up to the 20th floor and then sold all the offices within it, then after getting the money they were able to build additional floors above it. Same as what companies do with PC games, no need to cry about it...

Plus, after it goes gold, then gets produced, then gets shipped, its like they just bought themselves a month of time to work on the first patch which can, and has been, released at the same time as the game or slightly after to also work out those first few bugs 'everyone' seems to have.

I have no problems with the methods they use, some call me a laid-back kinda guy...

This is one reason I think the PC game market is suffering, not piracy, but low quality and/or unfinished games being released.

You don't get this with console games because they cannot just go and release a patch. But PC game developers have gotten overly comfortable with the "we will patch it later" mentality.

People pay for a finished product, not a product they can use later when it really works.

I voted yes but if it where up to the devs we would of been waiting another year. The date is a markiting thing with UBI. although the rushed release hurts just as much(maby more) as helps.
