srry i feel like writing tonight.

For the past couple of month's i've had this idea in my head for a game called (Real War) it would be a fpsss (first person shooter stragey simulator) lol.
It would go like this when you first start the game you'll be required to take a test just a general knowledge test puzzels simple mechanics etc....it would be random so no cheats.

Low scores would be enlisted and high scores officers. this is important cause officers our what runs the game. once your placed enlisted our officer you'll then be brought to a screen to choose your side us,japan, russian, german and whoever else had a take in ww2.

Once you've choosen you then are brought to another screen for the branch air force, navy, army etc.. let's say you are enlisted you choose us and navy. you then would be sent to basic training only once for each branch.
everybody is real no ai even the drill seargent.

Once completed you will then be sent to your duty station let's say hawaii.ok here's where this idea shines the game is not as much about battle as much about community. you would sit around with other recruits until your commanding officer or co gives a duty assignment and time to report.1 day at the most.

You must be at your ship at that exact time our you miss your ride. you would then get on the ship and choose a bed and from then till you dock back at base your stuck on that ship so you can leave the server and come back with your ship on it's course.

Whoever is online would be the co based on rank and ai would fill non filled roles when you are by yourself. starting to get it? The game would require all players to have mics our else you can't talk. also it would be distance senstive you can't talk to joe 500 feet away but can talk to jack 2feet away unless you yell.

The generals would run the game there orders is what gets an army moving and they would have hundreds of resources to make there decisons. they avg player in ground warfare would basically sit around and bs with guys online till a mission is posted or attacked by the enemy it could be recon 6 guys or a full blown attack hundreds of guys.

Oh yeah did i mention only one life that's right if you die you go back to the country choice screen and lose your rank. There would be one exception to this, hero's if the guy beside you jumps on a gernade to save your life he is a hero and he's officer would send up a report with he's actions. not immediatly but fast he would get promoted one rank above what he was regardless of country and branch.

There's much more but just wanted to put the idea out there. i get good reviews from my friends who are ready to play it now lol.i would want it to be as real as possible if you can do it in war you can do it here ie "spies" also i think a really cool feature would be to have the option to put your face on your model this way when your dead your buddies will remember you lol.

So give it to me guys. is it stupid. good idea? any questions post them and i will respond.

A very nice idea, but either you manage to build a huge hype around that, or you'll be likely to have your players ways too scattered around between nations and forces.

One thing that doesn't convince me much is the sitting around at base thing... players could get bored and abandon the game, if there isn't enough action to jump in

I have giving thought to being to spread for example the us does nothing to germany except bombing until 1944.so the us army selection would be closed only marines navy and airforce. the "community" idea is so people get to know u so when you die they feel the lost. Imagine going back and forth on the server as marine for 2 days on the 3rd your just talking to your friend onboard the a troop transport. then up on the horizion you see iwo jima. can you say hell awaits

What about the Bataan boys, Luzon, Americal Division at Guadalcanal and Bouganville, Tunisia, Morrocco, Java, Burma, Italy, Sicily......plenty of U.S. Army troops involved in the war before 44.

the point you'll only be able to go where there is battle on the horizion. srry i forgot all about patton and the desert fox among many others. I also forgot to mention there is no set time line the war is completley run by generals and there descions the only exception is the u.s. won't be avalible until after dec7 1941 only small airforce roles for china and britan

no no it's good keep giving me questions for things all of you think would suck our don't make sense i need to figure this out so i can get the whole pitchure right now i got about 80% maybe more like 60% navy was hardest to figure out it took month's to figure how to make that work. also I don't have the talent the money or the resources to even think of making this game happen i'm hoping somebody will like it and steal it from here cause i wanna play it too.

Game design, like most creative endeavors is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. I encourage the inspiration, don't get me wrong.

That said, I gotta say that I've no interest in a game that will make me take a presumably boring psych/intelligence test before it will decide what fraction of the probably expensive game I will get access too, and the waiting around at bases, don't get me started...</Kerouac>
