Thread: 16:10 Resolution Question | Forums

  1. #1
Hi guys, I'm having a problem getting ACB to cover all my 16:10 monitor. At the moment it doesn't matter what resolution i set (1680x1050, 1920x1200, 1920x1080) I keep getting black strips above and below the screen (like watching a widescreen movie). I might be overlooking a simple option to tick in the options menu. Thanks

I don't think you can get rid of them. Those lines are there on the screen no matter what res you're using.

My monitor is set to it's highest res, wich is 1610 x 1080, my GPU can go higher, but bad things happened last time i tried to set it higher than my monitor would allow.

    I'm playing on 1920 x 1080 res, 16:9 AR and I don't have black bars like mindgame401 experienced.

This being a console port, I guess you'll have to deal with it for the time being until Ubi releases a patch supporting 16:10 AR. I'm not sure if this was the case for AC2.

I had the same experience with a different game (NBA 2K10) wherein before the patch, they didn't support 16:10 displays. Personally, I preferred the black bars (playing at a lower 1600x900 res on my 1680x1050 monitor) that time because when I compared user screen shots who have 16:9 displays to mine, my images were horrendously distorted (heads and balls were elongated).

There is nothing you can do about this. All Assassin's Creed have been always running in 16:9 on PC, Ubisoft never supported 16:10, 4:3 or any other aspect ratio and currently there's no way to make those black strips disappear, unfortunately.

I'm Playing on a 32" LCD TV and I have no black bars when running the game @ 1920X1080 on PC running @ 30-60 FPS in fraps.

Oh yo have to be kidding me? The game letterboxes if you have a 16:10 display?

And here I thought the game was going to have a semi decent port. God I hate it when lazy assed developers do this crap.

Again this is VERY common with lazy console ports. AC:B is by no means the first or last to do this. Mirror's Edge was the first I remember to be like this. F.E.A.R. 2 did this as well (but was psudo patched out).

Well, 16:9 is the standard resolution in current-generation games and some developers don't really bother including support for different aspect ratios. Assassin's Creed used letterboxing from the very first game in the series, so it's hardly surprising it didn't change in ACB.

    I've played AC1 at 4:3 o.o

Mindgames, try to search in ur monitor menu to change display type there might be an option saying Adapt or Keep Aspect Ratio, to remove those blackstrips u must chose Adapt (removing the 16:9 aspect ratio) and covering the full monitor... i allways keep aspect ratio so if i play with lower res i still can play without weird look textures/bodies....
