Thread: POLL : Epilepsy filter | Forums

I think that we can understand why Ubisoft wants such a filter. But why not make it a DEFAULT feature that can be turned OFF by manually editing the CONFIG.INI file. When someone DOES edit the config.ini file, the game should post a large disclaimer when it is loading saying WARNING --- THE SECURITY FEATURE PROTECTING INDIVIDUAL FROM EPILEPSY HAVE BEEN TURNED OFF. PLAYING THE GAME WITHOUT THE SAID FEATURE COULD CAUSE SEIZURES IN CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS.

I for one would like a way to disable this feature.

This or Ubi should leave an unlock code for the ones who agrees by a web form (or fax or whatever you want) to not take legal action against Ubi / 1C in the case of an personal epi attack.

Even Ubi couldn't be that stupid.
This has got to be just another nasty rumor.

EDIT: Apparently Ubi is that stupid.
    Jeez!

Epilepsy Warnings have been included with most games for years, never heard of anyone sueing over it. Now some crazy filter you can't even turn off with a EULA? It does not add up at all. There is some other issue here.

Speed Doesn't Kill but a sudden lack of it does.

I'm not going to vote until I know what the facts are. We have had a great deal of speculation, but little real information. A poll at this point achieves nothing. It may be that the problem can be fixed with no noticeable effect on frame rates - or it may not be. It may be that Ubisoft are legally obliged to do this - or it may not be. It may be practical to make this optional - or it may not be. What is the point in having an uninformed 'vote' on something we know little about and may be unable to influence anyway?

I think the most sensible course for now is to ask 1C:Maddox and Ubisoft to clarify the situation, and then we can discuss options.

Well the video that we got back in november 2010 shown good FPS on a Intel i5 CPU's and a mid range GPU. So it's probable that this filter is the cause.

Or the video was not recorded directly from a PC but had some treatment, as all the trailers did...

you guys still haven't seen proof that the filter causes this and you're asking UBI to increase the chances for a libel suit upon itsself?

I would suggest to wait at least a week. You know, Release day here in Europe before you wait to do anything mis or uninformed.....
