Thread: Looking for Luftwaffe Squad | Forums

    Hello
I would like to join an large, active Luftwaffe sqaud with a US time zone contingent. Preferably 190 but will also fly 109 and bombers (if needed). I would like a squad that is heavily into historical scenarios and allows use of moded versions like 6DOF because I have a TrackIR. Full realism is OK -I have been off the controls for more than 5 years but logged about 5000 hrs in WB back in the day. So I know how to manage an e-fighter but my SA and gunnery still stink (from what it used to be). I guess what I like best is the historical side and recreating battles against Allied squads in head2head action.

    Hi,
We are II./JG53 and are a CO-OP group with a worldwide membership split into three sections based upon geographical location. Our largest section by far is our UK / EU section with around 40+ members but our US/CAN section is growing and becomming quite active. Our Aus/NZ section has 8 active pilots and another 2 new recruits who fly two official mission nights per week as well as most other nights for some training flights.

As an established CO-OP group with over 100 members on books with around 30 regularly active, we are looking for BF109 pilots from all over the world to fly Co-op missions with us.

We have three sections, one based in the UK/EU, one in the USA/CAN and another based in AUS/NZ, all are operational and have plenty of active and dedicated pilots all waiting to welcome you into the group!

We have an age limit of 15 but all we ask is that you are a mature person who will fit in with a group that is made up of people of many different ages ranging at present from 15 to 60+

We fly using 1946 and have recently started to use our own JG53 mod pack that was compiled to ensure enhanced realism and additional maps/flyables whilst remainging balanced and fair for all members.

We are currently operating over Leningrad in Late 1943, we are currently flying the BF109G4 with conversion to the G6 Erla-haub commencing in the new year.

We are also in the process of launching a new BF110 section - so we are looking for both 109 and 110 pilots!

We allow our pilots to fly in other IL2 squadrons providing mission times don't clash - we do this as we know some people like to have a co-op squad and an online "wars" squad as well as those who enjoy being in an "axis" squad and a different "allies" squad. So if you're looking for a CO-OP squad to fly with, id ask you to consider joining us here at II./JG53.

You can find our website here; http://www.IIJG53.com
With a link to the forums and "sign up" in the navigation bar as well as our Roster, Awards and News pages!

Hope to see you in the air with us soon!

    Hello Skud1959

Welcome to IL2 and the forums.
I think JV44, The Redwulf Squadron might be what you are looking for.
We are an international squad with a members worldwide. Check our website

We fly weekends, Friday and Saturday night, and there is usually someone in Hyperlobby most nights.

We fly full real settings. We also have a full training programme to teach you all the skills you need, including wingman tactics and navigation. Not only is it a far more satisfying way to fly, if you're serious it's really the only way. Like they say, you get out what you put in. Once you’ve mastered it you won't go back. We also fly historical missions and campaigns.

If you're not sure we run a Redwulf for a Day scheme for interested pilots. This is where you can give us a test fly on a couple of coop missions or on a fighter sweep and see what we're like. You can meet the squad members and check us out. You’re more than welcome to give this a go.
    Check out our website .

    Good luck

Thanks for the information. Sorry for the noob questions-but do your squads fight AI or real live opponents? How many players are usually involved in a mission? Are "buff hunts? a regular feature?

    Thanks

JG53 is a co-op group so our campaign is fought against the AI. Don't worry though, it isnt the stock AI, we use a modified AI that can throw some serious competition against even the most experienced of pilots.
Normal missions can range anywhere between 6 to 24, normal turnouts are around the 12 range for most nights.
Hope that helps, feel free to drop by the website and forums if you have any mroe questions specifically about our group

    Hello Skud,

It sounds like you are looking for 14.(Jabo)JG5, "The Fists". Please see my thread for a full description: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...8310655/m/5911063418

-Our primary fighter preference is the 190 in all variants, but we fly it all.
    - I'm not sure what your definition of "large" may be, but we have 20 pilot slots, and the 12 of us that are currently in the squad fly regularly and together. So, "large" in my mind is when 8-12 guys are on comms flying together, working towards a coordinated objective... which is what describes us well.

-We are all North American, so all our events, and even just flying on servers for fun, will meet your time zone schedule.

-Our pilots are proficient fighters, strike/fighters, attackers, and bombers. And many of us do it all when called upon.

-We compete human competitions and war campaigns. Nothing against other people's choices, but our squadron members prefer the thrill and unknown that comes with flying against other skilled humans. Currently we are flying the Forgotten Skies campaign, which is a historically balanced Axis vs. Allied competition. We will also compete in the United Squadrons League which starts in January which has historically based scenarios that a squadron flies against another squadron to determine a winner. Both these events use mods, and I'm pretty sure everyone in our squad uses TiR. I know I sure do, and can't live without it.

-As far as time away from the stick, that's ok. Flying IL-2 is like riding a bike. As long as you wear reflectors, no one gets hurt. But seriously, with some dedicated time we can knock the dust off and get you back into fighting shape. We can give you lots of tips to get that gunnery and SA back. Meanwhile, you have some of the best sticks I know covering your 6.

I think we meet all the requirements you listed in your original post. Check out our website, and ask me any questions you may have.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
    Commanding Officer
    14.(Jabo)/JG5 "Faust der Luftflotte"
