one other thing you have to take into account is that if theres a symbol that makes time go foward then there might be a symbol that makes time go backwards and even possible of a symbol that even stops time all together.

With those time symbols you could go forward or backward in time at any moment in time. if you decided to.

Here is something for you to knibble on.

When down in the Great shaft area, didnt you notice the earthquakes. Well even if the great shaft has a different look, how do we know if a very strong earthquake didnt take out some of those structure beams and over some time the rubble was cleaned up befor ppl headed down (i wonder if the drc has any notes refering to cleaning up the area.

Also signs of damage when in URU. when we finnaly got down in the shaft ares, the walkways along the side of the great shaft where gone or very damaged.

So i think Cyan did a good job of messing with our minds.

Hm, that was short... i guess im actually a little disapointed. the length of the ice-age was pathetic, two riddles, done...
and the arena-age looked jsut horrible, on one hand its the only age with a really good length, but on the other its more or less a huge beach with random round rocks thrown on it, i dont think any other age was ever that boring visually, the eclipse was a nice detail, but didnt play into the game at all...
the rest i liked very much, except for the fact that the story was rather dull. I didnt read any myst books, only played all the games, so i dont quite see the point in those weird critters or why freeing them saves all of D'ni that actually seemed doing quite well anyhow, except for Atrus who was waiting for his daughter... theyve never been mentioned before (excpet for Bahro-stones i remember form uru...).
And besides, it seems that yeeshas role works kind of like this: she is the ultimate savior and to save her people she just has to fail once, sit down and wait for some stranger to do all the work for her so she can go home and be praised... yeah... awesome...

I've been wondering about this as well, and the novels don't help -- they don't mention the Bahro. Why can't the new D'ni grow unless the Bahro are freed? No one there is responsible for their enslavement. I suppose they could feel an abstract sense of shame about what a few criminals in their former culture had done to the Bahro, but I can't see that as stopping them from building their own new culture.

Judging on the condition of Myst Island, quite a lot of time must have passed there between when you were there in Path of the Shell and End of Ages. I'm guessing that in POTS, the shell path links you to Myst at an earlyer time then the linking book does (otherwise how likly is it that Katran's and Atrus's clothes would be in such good condition, and what were they doing striping off in the Library and K'veer anyway?)

Also, in the bad ending where Esher gets the Tablet, He leaves it behind when he links out. I'm guessing that he can't take it any more then Yeesha can, as he too has taken the journey and failed. But what is to prevent you from the stand and trying to use it to get back?, or failing that thowing it into the sea so Esher can't abuse it's power?

It seems like it was locked down pretty tightly. And it looked like he was able to touch it once he got it into his contraption.

well, normally the bahro come to you when you do something....

btw. has anyone looked at the sfx folder? there are a couple of short music files, with the name *RandMusic*.ogg (the * are place holders for age name and clip number) did rand do them, or has it a more... deeper meaning?

i dont know why the americans have more tracks on their soundtrack... there doesnt seem to be many sound files in the myst V/sfx folder, which are long enough to be considered for a soundtrack...

No hidden meanings, nor any involvement by Rand Miller. "Rand" stands for "random", meaning the clips are played at random times. (Tim Larkin himself revealed this over on MO/UO.)

so... this is it, prisoned on our beloves myst island with either Yeesha linking away without saying a word, or Esher becoming a madman...
did i miss something... </div></BLOCKQUOTE>After finishing the game, I tested alternate endings. One of these alternates was where I did NOT pick-up the tablet and linked to MYST island empty-handed.

Escher's response was the same as if I had tried to hand the tablet to Yeesha, which I did not. I guess "they" didn't see that one...

BTW, wouldn't it have been nice to be allowed to explore a bit on Releeshahn?
