    Hi,

I have just recently bought the game.
I intalled it, as it reached 75% during installation, error occured.

    Error:
    >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (476)
PAPP:Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.
    PVENDOR: UBISOFT (http://www.splintercell.com)
    PGUID: BABAEBE4-9FFB-4B5D-9453-64FF11517CA2
    $10.1.0.238
    @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 7.0.5700.6

During this time, the only option given was "Ok"
Once i cliked on "OK" it would not complete the installation.

So I tired to Un-Install and It appeared again.

I dont know what I did wrong. The system requirements are perfectly fine.

    Much help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Seems like you have some protection on dlls or something.
Is this for SCCT or SCDA? I know it says SCCT, but the updater for SCDA also says SCCT

The error happen to appear only for SCCT as mentioned.

I tried to remove it by the control panel, "add & remove programs"
    since the un-install would'nt work.
    It still would'nt remove it.

Are there any other options to stop prevent this from happening, please advise.

You can try searching for updates for the InstallShield Wizard.

    Thank-you for the information.
I have found the updates for the Installshield Wizard and it's been a succesfull challenge.

The game is now working perfectly fine but due to it's installation another problem occured.

I took a screenie of it.

During the clean install the information appeared. I clicked on "ignore" an the installation completed.

You may need to update the firmware in your optical drive. Or you could have a bad optical drive. It's also possible you have a RAM problem.

And, as the prompt says, you could have a bad disc. I'd do a complete uninstall and then a re-install.

If you have something to clean your optical drive, I'd also try that. You may have dust-bunnies in there. Or perhaps a little dust on the optics.

The firmwave of the optical drive is upto date.
I have enough ram to suit the whole community, i dont think the RAM is an issue.

The disc, i have just cleaned and also the driver with the Lens Cleaner, just to make sure to get rid of the dust in the optics.

I re-installed the game, which was quite ammusing after the error i received in the begining, did'nt occur.

The game is working perfectly fine.
    Thank-You for the support.

I was updating the game, from the games browser.
    "Check For Updates"
The updates were in perfect working order, untill another severe error happend.

I have provided some pictures of the error's.

I'm sorry for uploading picture's on the forums if there is a policy of not adding them on here.

If anyone else has this issue, therefore they can "read an learn" the aspects of this error.

    Thank-You.

    Thanks.

Take a look at which patch you're installing. Some patches are cumulative (i.e. go from version 1.00 to 1.05) and some only go from a higher revision (i.e. go from version 1.02 to 1.05).

I never use UBISoft's "check for updates" browser. It quite often fails. Besides, they probably won't always be there or, at least, the patches won't be available. So I download the patches and put them on a DVD-RW with all my other game patches.

Check which version is required for the patch you're installing and check what version of the game you're running.

And what I meant by a RAM problem was not that you might not have enough. It was that there could have been something wrong with your RAM.

Fortunately, it turned out to be a dusty lens and not something serious.

As for the updates, it's probably just a version mismatch. I've also seen this when someone tries to install the same patch twice.
