What I could use is a few pointers on dealing with sporting events in general, but it would be applied to cycling. Anybody ever shot a 35mph sprint or a 40+ mph descent or have any hints on trying it? How do you judge range with something like this?

Good luck, icrash. I've only had to shoot races on video, and that was hard enough. My recommendation: don't try panning with the racers. Provided they'll be doing multiple laps, lock your framing down, and let them ride into the shot... after the first few laps, you should have your timing down. Have fun with it

Thanks for the help. Most of the pics turned out ok except for the few where I shot too early. I should have let them get closer. Most all the pics are head-on as I sat in a corner and caught them heading into the turn (which everyone made I'm happy to report). Thanks again for the assist.
