Hello!
I wonder how it will be possible to save my game state. Can I save at any point of the game, or will saving only be allowed after reaching a waypoint of my mission, for exsample?
Greetings

How can you ask a question such as this since it was answered so long ago? You've been here long enough to read this and numerous other questions by others with the answers pointing to the same place.
What's up?![]()
I am sorry. Maybe I just forgot...

I really don't like the official answer "You will be able to save a game any time, except when under attack".
You could be under attack for hours, and to be forced to switch off the PC without saving: a great frustraction that I know very well by my AoD campaigns.
When it happens, you can only resume a game saved before the engagement; not amusing, is a sort of forced cheating.

:-)
Hmmmmm, you might have a point, but I hope that they have some way of balancing the issue. I think it will come down to how much or how long 'combat' is really. The opposite is being able to save every other torpedo and that would be more like cheating in my book. We'll have to wait and see.

No, 'cheating' would be relaoding the game from your last save position if you happen not to like the outcome from a battle that happens AFTER you had saved. Having the ability to save when you have 'contacts'(in combat) would be even more of a 'cheat'. What would keep you from reloading the game if you 'miss' or if you are 'detected'?
Yea, I know what you're gonna say. "I wouldn't do that!"
That's why you won't be able to save with any contacts. The DevTeam was correct in not allowing this to happen.
Have you considered using the 'hibernate' capability of Windows? I find it comes in handy quite often, but perhaps your machine won't because it's not capable. But if it is, then you should have no problem playing 'real time' with no time accelleration needed. Just a thought.

Hibernate doesn't help so much, if I have to switch off the PC when leaving for a week or more.
What about a sort of autosave, single slot, where only the last minute of game is stored without player's intervention?
Not great for cheating, I suppose, as you haven't the choice for a better situation to resume.
:-)
I say let us save anywhere....anytime. If someone uses this to cheat...then WHO CARES?!?!?
It is just a game and they are only cheating themselves.
I like to run my attacks at realtime and sometimes this can take 36 hours or so. I like to play for an hour or so then save, shutdown, go to work/play/girlfriends/whetever, come back in two days and resume.

Hibernation:
A state in which your computer shuts down after saving everything in memory on your hard disk. When you bring your computer out of hibernation, all programs and documents that were open are restored to your desktop.

Usefull if you're in a situation when you have to stop what you're doing 'right now'. Sometimes you just have to quit, but you can't save the game where you are.
The only problem is if you have to do something else on the computer, since whatever you were doing when you hibernated is reloaded right where you left it, so you have to finish that before you're able to do anything else. But it does let you save the game 'whenever'.
Since the DevTeam has said we can't save the game with any 'contacts', this will let you get around this limitation.
