For instance, there is no 56th IAP listed. Is there a way to add that to the squadron menu list?

No. The squadrons are hard-coded into the game.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Sorry Zeus-cat but your half right,it is possible.But only in the dogfight servers.I had created a new regiment for our Squad using the YP designation.Including our crest.It's not availible in QMB and Coops.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
