Has anyone else played with this individual? I first played face off with him just now, 2 rounds, before quitting.

He seemed to be invincible. He survived various proximity mines and frag grenades that landed next to him, (he was not shielded by any architecture) and seemed unaffected by all pistol shots, even head shots.

Shooting with an M4 and Death-From-Above melee were the only means by which I was able to kill him.

He was probably using a trainer. Sadly, these work in multiplayer.

A trainer is a software that lets you cheat. Infinite ammo, god mode, etc, but they are generally not a problem because they can never work in MP modes of games...

    This is not good...
How can Ubisoft create a game with a DRM to "thwart" hackers when they allow trainers to be used?

Trainers will almost always work in multiplayer modes of games by default. It is up to the author of the trainer to decide whether or not to add additional code to disable the cheats when the game is in one of its multiplayer modes. Sadly, many trainer authors simply don't care and don't go to that extra effort.

It's unlikely that the cheater in question is using a legitimate version of the game. Most of the time trainers will not work with DRM such as this game's, and the same goes for the Steam version (which would have to beat the DRM plus be modified to work with the Steam version). It's more likely he's using a trainer that is designed for the cracked version of the game.

Considering I tested it with some cheap free trainer and I HAVE a legitimate copy...

It does indeed work with the legitimate. I however have the D2D version, not the steam version.
