Thread: Not working right on my pc | Forums

Hi. I'm an old lady who just loves the tv show Lost and wanted to try the game. I am not all that computer game savvy so please be gentle with me. I bought this Dell almost a year ago with Vista. I thought it was a good system, but now I'm thinking I already need to upgrade just to play Lost.

It told me I had all the requirements and the game DOES play, it's just that at first with everything set to high the characters would talk then move around for a while like they were on a drug trip. Quite funny really.

I turned down the settings and finally got the words and actions to more or less match up, but the graphics look poor and when I'm running through the jungle it is extremely jerky and I can't control which way I'm running/walking fast enough and always get caught by Smokey.

I could live with the poor graphics but if I can't even get to the cockpit I might as well give up. So is it supposed to be this jerky and I just have poor game skills or is there something that I really need to upgrade? BTW I played Longest Journey and Dreamfall on this computer and they looked and worked wonderfully. Not jerky at all.

Here's my diag something or other as I learned from another post:
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Intel Core 2 CPU 4300 @ 1.80GHz 1.80 GHz
    2048 MP
    32 bit Operating System

Just wanting to know if there is one thing that I could upgrade or should I just buy a new computer? If that's the case, I will be giving this game to my nephews.

chances are the problem is caused by your graphics card if you look a bit further down on the dxdiag you will see a section on Display Devices post it from the heading down to about the driver date/size and we will try to help more.

Hi. Thanks for replying. I fiddled around with the settings some more (I think I moved the resolution back up and set the graphics to low). It's more playable now. At least I made it to the cockpit and solved the puzzle, so I'm on my way! Still wondering what I might need to play more of these cool new games coming out.

    Here's my video stuff:

the 8300 is a relitivly low card but should play most games as it is in the geforce 8 group of card. you could try upgrading the drivers this is the correct driver for your graphics card and Vista 32bit. updating may solve your problem as this is the one I use with no problems on a differant geforce 8 card.
