    Anyone notice the slow down u get with Flares, its horrible (as i heared from friends ingame)

    Seriously shoot a gew and walk around with it (poeple with older cards should notice it) - its the same with the roof , when it goes open they will get a major fps backdrop

    Me and my friend shot a huge amount of flares in the same place and asked the spy what it looked in night vision. We didn't have any slowdown. It was just so annoying listining to the flare's noise.

    I think thats why, because the flares are done through a dynamic lighting model. Dynamic light is calculated every frame and does not cast shadows. This is a lot slower than static lighting, which is calculated only once (when compiling the map). Static lighting, which makes up most of the lighting in SCCT, is treated like a texture. So that is why flares slow certain people down.
